Yeah, baby! I always get a semi-chub when the Chiefs draft a kicker...
But seriously folks, the guy seems to have the leg genes. Maybe he'll contibute this year.

As long as he is the staring punter. I will be happy. A starter from a 3rd/4th round pick is great. Especially someone who can positively effect field position.

I don't know enough about him yet. Give me time to read up on him and I'll let ya know. From everything they've (CP and DV) said about him, it sounds like a good pick. Especially if he makes our punting game good and most importantly, consistent.

If he wins the punting job, he was worth it. I'll take a contributer over a project in the very late third round, especially in a year where we feel like we are in the last year of our "window."
It could have been a reach for some other teams, but punter is a major need for the Chiefs and we are trying to win this year, so taking a starter in the third round is better than taking a project. I like the pick. |

Here's an excerpt I found from the Vols site on this kid before his senior season.

Strengths: A master at pinning opponents inside the twenty...Gets excellent hang time...Very strong leg...Can pooch punt or kick the ball for distance...Good size and solid athletic ability for the position...Prolific college player. Weaknesses: A little slow and may need to speed up his motion once in the pros...Can be a little more consistent...Has had a couple of punts blocked. Notes: A weapon in the battle for field position...One of the best punters to come along in a while and a legitimate first day prospect...Father and brother were also punters for the Vols.

Wonderful choice! I think getting the famed Chiefs kicking game back in order is long overdue.

a little high for a punter, but
if he works out it's worth it if we hadn't had to give up the extra 3rd round pick for Welbourn this year then Colquitt would of been used with a second 3rd round pick and it wouldn't of been an issue at all.

If he's halfway between Cheek and Lechler, it's a good pick.

If Tynes can become a little more consistent and this kid is as good as they say he can be, we could have the Chiefs' kicking game tied down for the next 10+ years.

Not at all. Antonio Perkins, Fred Gibson would've been nice at that slot. Even Kyle Orton. If he was guaranteed to be a success for 10 years, then maybe. Just not a fan of drafting a punter.
