You know, all we really need...

is to play one game better than Cincy leading up to the final week (and then beat them week 17), and to play even with the Chargers and beat them in our matchup against them, and we'd take the final wildcard spot

All we really need to do is have the coaching staff admit to our strenghts and play to them.

First we had a run-run-run staff without the feature HB.

Now we have a pass-pass-pass staff without the WR's.

Every time we run the ball Jordan Black doesn't give up a sack.
Every time we run the ball Green doesn't get put on his ass.
Every time we run the ball the clock keeps running, and we give our defense time to rest.
Every time we run the ball we make the play action more effective, and give EK more time to get downfield for the big play.

Once teams have to stack 8 in the box that's one more guy you can't use to double Gonzo.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

In general, I agree we need to run it down our opponents throats.

Unfortunately, we don't have Holmes anymore. LJ appeared to wear down in the second half, averaging less than 3 YPC. Asking him to carry 30+ times per game may be asking too much. If we had both RBs, we could run 40+ times like we did against Miami.

He bogged down because they could stick 9 in the box without worry.

Their defensive ends would get to the QB 50% of the time...

We have a Dee Brown guy we picked up. I know he doesn't know the playbook, but calling "23 hand-off" isn't rocket science. He's given this week to book up. He's not Priest, but the money's spent. Let's see if he can carry the ball a few times more than to close the first half.

This is where we miss Priest. When teams would pull out half blitz half defend, we'd just throw a checkdown to Priest and keep the defense away from blitzing Green. LJ is no Priest in terms of receiving ability.

I noticed TRich is becoming our new checkdown back, should we ever use that play. TRich is no Holmes in terms of running ability.

So basically, the offense needs to dictate the entire game. If the opposing defense gets smart so much as one series, we've lost.

... is to win out the remaining games.

I've been waiting 16 years since I became a fan of the red & gold to see them finish with a 12-4 record!

Okay so we back into the playoffs and go on the road to Denver, Pitt or Indy and get our butts handed to us. Theres something to look foward too.

I think we've got a better shot at beating Indy in the playoffs than Denber...

Yeah. That's what we need is to play against a hot-handed Manning and leave Dwight Freeney to run over Jordan Black all day.

I definitely think Dungver is more beatable

Don't you all think that it's more likely that we're going to have to go to New England???? If we finish 12-4 or 11-5 then if we have the tiebreaker edge over Jax we'd go to NE....NE in NE would be an interesting undertaking
