WR in the 1st or the 2nd?

Projected 1st round WRs*:

Dwayne Bowe
Dwayne Jarrett
Robert Meachem
Ted Ginn
Sidney Rice

Projected 2nd round WRs:

Anthony Gonzalez
Steve Smith
Craig Davis
Jason Hill

Is there that much of a difference between the first rounders and the second rounders?

I've been trumpeting our need to draft a WR in the 1st, but after scanning that group of likely 2nd rounders, I'm starting to waver. Was looking for your thoughts on the disparity between the first rounders and the second rounders. It doesn't look that bad.

*Calvin Johnson excluded, since the Chiefs have no chance at him.

So what do you target in the 1st if you go WR in the 2nd?

Personally I would like to see the Chiefs go with defense in round 1. Some good LBs and CBs should be available and I also like Tyler quite a bit at DT. I think the Chiefs can find a solid receiver in the 2nd or even 3rd rd that fill the need.

Another thing to consider is the fact that Herm already had 2 young WRs that he is high on and says will play next year. I'm not sure if he is right or wrong but I think it factors into the Chiefs decision making and level of priority.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Chiefs don't draft a WR at all on day one.

If the Chiefs pick a LB in the first round I'm going to get really pissed......especially if it's Paul Poszlusney.

If the Chiefs were to dismiss the idea of drafting a WR in the first round because of Webb and Hannon, I would go ****ing nuts.

If their pick comes up and the best player on the board is a WR, they damn well better take him.

I'd like to see us go OL or DT.

But we'll probably go CB, and I think I'd be at peace with that.

Why do Chiefs fans devalue WR's as much as the organization does? There's a reason our WR's have sucked for 20+ years and you guys are going right along with it like it's cool.

I don't. I've been trumpeting WR in the 1st over and over again. "We need a WR" has been my mantra and I've been criticized for it a few times.

The disparity between the first two rounds doesn't look as bad as I first thought, so only now am I starting to waver on that mantra, and I'm not even sure I'm there yet.

OL or DT will almost assuredly be a reach at our pick.

I could live with CB, if he's arguably the best player on the board.

Instead of a WR we could use another Junior Siavii apparently.

CB seems to have some value at 23.

Unfortunately OLB starts looking good around our pick.

Why do some Chiefs fans act like WR is the biggest need on the team year after year? The Cardinals and Lions draft WRs every year and what did it do for them?
