Young (5-11, 196) ran the 40 in 4.39 and 4.40 seconds. He also notched a 43-inch vertical, a 10-foot-11 broad, a 4.31 short shuttle, a 6.65 three-cone drill and 15 bench presses.

Yes, the 41st ranked CB. UFA possibility I would hope, but sure seems early in the process to be looking at that. How about we take a look at some real prospects?

from nfldraftscout.com

03/13/07 - Pro day: Several KSU seniors helped their chances of playing football at the next level last week when representatives of more than half of the NFL's 32 teams visited the Kent State field house for the school's pro day workouts. Cornerback Usama Young and defensive tackle Danny Muir really opened some eyes. Young's vertical jump of 43 inches would have been among the best scores of any players in his position group at this year's NFL combine. His long shuttle run of 11.98 seconds would also have topped all defensive backs at the combine. Just for good measure, Young twice ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds. Current rumors circulating through the NFL have Young most likely being drafted early on day two and possibly even late on day one. The Kansas City Chiefs have already scheduled a private workout with Young in Kent. Young has also been invited to visit the Cincinnati Bengals. Other potential fits for Young could be the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Both teams sent their directors of personnel and defensive backs coaches to Kent last week. - Ravenna Record Courier

Courtney Brown is another cornerback that fits into this same category. Not highly rate, 38th rated by Great Blue North, but lots of speed, and very athletic. Maybe Herm can takes these guys with physical ability and turn them into good cornerbacks.

**** that.

This team has wasted too many draft picks on athletic guys they thought they could turn into good players.

I'm not saying to use a first day pick on these type of guys, but late 6th or 7th round or as possible college free agents. These guys have size and speed. NFL Football teams want low risk projects. Wasn't Brian Waters at one time considered a project?

I like projects! Guys like Antonio Gates, Rod Smith, Priest Holmes, Marques Colston, and Jarrad Page make the NFL more entertaining.

No $hit. Too many people on this board think the Chiefs have seven first round picks all in the top thirty (and 400 million in cap space). To be successful, we have to have star talent. We also need players taken late or undrafted who make the team and contribute. Contribute on special teams, maybe start, maybe turn into superstars if we are fortunate. Do we have long term need at CB? You think? I think I will trust Herm over the football genuises.

This may be true, but we do have a HC who's played the position in the NFL. If there's any chance for this organization to actually develop some of the DB projects, now would be the time.
