Health Problems anyone?

I had to start a thread on this for my personal complaining, and out of curiosity to see who also has bad luck. Well I am only 19 and I have always played sports, I was All-State in basketball and started in football as a sophmore. I have broken my left ankle twice, and broke and dislocated my right ankle I had to get a plate and 8 screws in that rascal. I have had hip pointers, broken fingers, stitches (from an elbow during AAU under my eye 8 stitches and a trip to the ER on my birthday lol), fractured foot, etc. My recent injuries are so hard to cope with especially in a physically demanding job.

Last year I had a few scholarships to play ball and I was playing hoops a lot, and I ended up tearing my lateral meniscius. So due to insurance issues we had to wait for me to get pre-approved for the surgery and it took 4 months. Then I got the surgery to fix my knee well all went well, except all wasnt well with my knee, its still messed up. I lost my scholarships and I couldnt go to school and I am gonna have to get another surgery on my knee here in the next 3-4 months probably.

Then my back has been messed up for 2 years, they said I herniated two of my discs, and its hereditary believe it or not. So I had 3 epideral shots into my back all at different times and it didnt help. I had to do 3 months PT to get it back to normal. It came back about a month ago and it has been the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life (remeber I broke and dislocated my ankle and that isnt fun). See these discs affect my psiatic (dont know about the spelling) nerve and it shoots currents down my entire right side and its pure hell. I cant sleep at night cause its always throbbing. It was so bad last night I almost went to the ER, man I wouldnt wish it on anyone. But the Doc gave me some perscriptions and said if it doesnt fix it I will have to get back surgery eventually. I am only 19 and thats not something you want to hear is back surgery. I was just curious if anyone has had this similar problem, Or what you want to whine about.

You're far too young. I was healthy my entire life until about 18 months ago. Since then I've had problems with both knees and an elbow. I'm strongly considering hanging up my cleats but I love to physically compete too much. I know I want to be able to walk when I'm Skip's age so I need to carefully weigh my options.

Here's one that's intermittent for me.
Occasionally, sound will create a 'busted speaker' sensation in my left ear.
It's not painful, but it is irritating.
Most often it is loud music, but it can even come and go with soft noise, even my own voice. High pitches are the worst [my SACD of Blonde on Blonde, with all the harmonica, can be excruciating]
It's not that I can't hear, or that the sound is distorted, but the sound is filtered, seemingly before my receptors receives it, through a paper bag or some sort that creates a rustling overlay, like is I were listening to something in a gale force wind.
I have some hypotheses about ear wax, but haven't found a correlation I can announce with confidence.

That's otitis. I've had that before. I went to a Doc and he said I can give you prednisone or you can wait 12 weeks and it will go away. Mine was caused by a eustachian (sp?) tube that wasn't draining the way it should.

Not quite to your level with the injuries, but I played sports year-round from age 6-18, and I'm paying the price in my mid 30's.

All of my major joints have some issues, ranging from bone chips, cartilage tears, you name it. Nothing serious enough to go under the knife over, but enough to be irritating. Both ankles, knees and shoulders....

Each one of my fingers has been broken, some multiple times.

Broken collarbone, cracked pelvis. My right shoulder is so loose I can dislocate it on command. Quit doing that in college. Dislocated elbow, and my right hip joint feels like it grinds. Doc can't find anything wrong there though.

Too many stitches and staples to count.

And the grand finale: 7 diagnosed concussions. I'm guessing 2-3 that went undiagnosed.

Do yourself a favor. Quit now so you can walk later. It sucks, I know, I've had to quit playing hockey, which leaves golf as my only activity. But looking back, I'm glad I did.

I've broken an arm, 4 ribs, 3 fingers, boxers fracture, 5 toes, hip pointer, torn rotator cuff, torn knee ligaments, fractured skull, and more concussions than I can recall. Numerous stitches in various body parts ranging from my tongue to my eye ball (long story in itself) to my butt. My hand gets sore when the weather changes, and my knee pops pretty loud when I get out of bed, but that's about all the lasting effects. I've got a calcium deposit on my wrist where I broke my arm that's about the size of a gumball, but it doesn't bother me. I'm still very active, and I'm afraid of slowing down, for fear I'll hobble around like an old man.

With this crew, it sounds like we might need a medic at Phil's BBQ.

One of us might blow out a knee pitching washers......

Except for the bum knee I'm in pretty decent shape. Which is amazing, really. Also, aside from a cracked rib I've never broken anything.

I guess I'm just not a glass Sally like some of you.
