DeSean Jackson

I'm curious if people would be upset if the Chiefs drafted him in the 5-8 range (assume Long and Dorsey are off the board).

I look at him as the explosive touchdown / big-play maker that this team desperately needs. The team right now has no explosive open-field player who can take the ball all the way every time he touches it. Bowe, Gonzalez, LJ, and Kolby are all move-the-chain types - they're not explosive. Plus big plays on special teams determine so many close games, as the Bears showed last year. I think he's a much more polished receiver than Ted Ginn was last year, coming from Tedford's pro-style offense. And remember Herm's first draft pick as a head coach was Santana Moss, who won many games for him with big punt returns and catches.

Yes, I'd be pissed. I don't think his talent warrants a selection that high.

That guy is so overrated. He folds like a lawn chair in big games. He also has a huge ego. If we drafted him before the 3rd round I would riot.

He caught 11 balls for 161 yards against Oregon this year. He returned a punt for a score in the season opener against Tennessee.

I'd be fine with drafting him in the 3rd/4th rounds and have him return punts/kicks. I think he sees himself as a true No. 1 in the NFL, which he is definitely not.

He weighs about 175lbs......His NFL future is probably as a slot WR/return man.

No way, man. You don't put speed like that in the slot. You put guys like Welker, Chrebet, and Stokley in the slot - guys with good quickness to get open in a short area, but that do not have great long speed. Guys like Hester, Ginn, Steve Smith, Santana Moss - they all play on the outside.

At 6 foot tall, Jackson probably needs to get to 180-185 to be a top 10 pick (although Ginn went 9 at 178). His agents know that. I think he'll run sub 4.35 at over 180 in the spring.

But it's the explosive open field talent that I'm most interested in. That translates directly to the NFL in a very predictable way.

Steve Smith is short but have you seen him? He's built...DeSean Jackson doesn't have a build anything close to that...

I have a hard time seeing him as a big time starting WR at his size.

You're right - Santana Moss, Hester, and Ginn are much better comparisons for Jackson than Steve Smith who is slower but stronger.

If he's a Devin Hester who knows how to play offense, he's definitely worth the pick.

Considering Hester is good at special teams and basically nothing else, and Ginn kinda sucks..that's not a ringing endorsement.

Talented, explosive guy but I would not want the Chiefs to draft him this year, especially not in the top 10.
