Life What's wrong with my throat/tonsils?

It all started around three or so weeks ago. Every so often my throat would hurt, nothing major. Well, eight days ago it started hurting non stop. On a scale of 1-10 pain wise I'd only give it around a 5 especially if my mouth was dry. I don't have any health insurance so I've been hoping it would go away by itself. Well I brushed my teeth yesterday and a couple thick gobs of blood came out of my mouth when I was done. Today I felt something on the back of my tongue so I looked and again a gob of blood. I just used warm salt water to clean out my mouth and again blood. It looks like my left tonsil or right above it (starts with an a) is bleeding. It sounds like its getting serious.

Am I going to have to cave in and go to the doctor? I honestly don't have much money for it. My girlfriend, her pre-med friend and my mom insist on me going.
