Major Concerns?

For me, it has to be the Offense. I see steady improvement in the Defense. They are still a long way from good, but I like the trend. Unfortunately, there has been very little consistency from the Offense.

The Chiefs Defense is not going to stop the Chargers Offense. We can slow them down. We can key on Tomlinson and force Brees to win the game. We can blitz like mad and pummel Brees. But we are not going to shut the Chargers down.

The game will turn on how many times the Chiefs Offense pulls a Houdini.

xoxo~

i know he's just one player but roaf is getting better every week and is major part of this offense...also it gets tg back in the mix. We will look like the offense of old this week and go 5-2

The Chiefs are schizoid. You never know which phase will suck.

I agree. The inconsistency of the O has been a big concern for me as well. If they don't have their stuff packed in one sock tomorrow, we are in for a "L."

If they can sack up and win in San Diego tomorrow I will officially be on the “this may be the year” bandwagon. Chargers are the best 3-4 team in the NFL and they’re going to be pissed.

Say what you will about Marty but he knows how to win in the regular season.

As far as my biggest concern; the brain trusts in the front office running the show.

My main concern is stopping the Chargers O. If we can somehow manage to keep LT, Gates and Co. from putting up 24+ points, I think we should win it. The tough part is going to be containing LT. After getting owned by the iggles last week, he is going to be looking for redemption this week.

The Chargers run D is pretty good, but the pass defense has been pretty bad (sound familiar). This game is likely to come down to turnovers. Whichever defense can force the most offensive mistakes will win the game. We need Jared Allen from the Washington game.

I'm going to give the offense the benefit of the doubt. I want to see a strong defense before I give them a free pass.

My specific worries right now are:

1. Wide receiver. We're one Kennison injury away from having receivers similar to our 2001 cast.

2. Defensive tackle. We're one Dalton injury away from Siavii being an everydown player - er, stander.

I actually voted special teams simply due to the horrible coverages we have seen all year. Tynes and Colquit are fine, Dante is Dante but Sproles could cause us problems this week.

It ain't a guns or butter situation...

I do not believe that being more concerned about the performance of the Offense than of the Defense constitutes giving the Defense a free pass.

It's okay, he can just hawk loogeys at the O-linemen. On the field he never has to worry about somebody slapping a spit hood on him.

To me its special teams.

I'm not confident in our kick/punt coverage. The Bolts have a Dante-like returner in Sproles and we've been giving up big returns.

In a game that could be decided by 3 pts I'm still not ready to call Tynes a lock either...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

both sides of the ball...

do we stick with the run when we are getting 6 yrds per carry?

do we get cute instead of smashing it in there?

do we know when to blitz

do we play in what amounts to be a prevent defense all game?

do we know when/what to challenge on replay?

when to call timeouts?

when to go for it on 4th down?

etc, etc

seems to me that in game coaching decisions can be a big concern for us too.
