Too many variables to apply whatever book value you might find. It's a project bike, so it's worth whatever the guy can get for it.

I don’t think it’s uncommon for engines/frames to not match –particularly if being restored by someone who isn’t a true restorer (if that’s a word).

However, I think $2k is a bit much simply based on pictures and description. I don’t see any ‘partial’ restoring (again, there may be, but hard to see that in the pics etc).

I would say unless someone is interested in the bike as a good platform to attempt a full on restoration (engine/ fram # match aside), the better option would be to spend half that for a more reliable Japanese bike of similar power etc.

I guess it all depends on what one would want to do with that bike.
Daily rider – spend ½ for a more reliable and more powerful bike and not have to deal with dropping more $ to simply get it to start/run correctly etc.

Restorer – ‘maybe’ @ $2k. And only if the person knew a lot about British bikes/parallel twins etc.

Be patient and you can get a cruiser with a lot of miles left. I talked the guy I bought mine from down from $3K to $2K simply because when he wouldn't go past $2,250 to my $2,000 offer I started to leave. I left him my card and said if you don't have any luck and decide to reconsider let me know. I was about 50 yards away, right at my truck door when he came back trying to get me to $2,100. Stayed firm and about 10 minutes later, he decided $2K in cash was better than waiting however long it would take to get it sold. I got a 1998 Honda Shadow 750 ACE with 8,500 miles on it for $2K.
