Does anyone hate the highschool football all star "cap picking" charade?

I'm sure it's fun for the kids, but is there anything more pretentious than the 'choose between the hats' charade during the AA game?

And we wonder why these kids have such a high opinion of themselves. Maybe players don't go running to mommy & daddy when a college coach yells if they're not treated like such royalty as high school players.

(title edit - "all star")

It is ****ing reeruned.

The only great thing about it is that it offers chances for WWE-style heel turns by the players.

I'd love to see someone choose Alabama, don the hat, then hit Saban over the head with a steel chair and reveal an Auburn shirt underneath.

The worst is when the player goes for the bait and mulls over one cap before picking the other.

I don't even watch these games because of that stupid bullshit.

I've never heard of this custom before, but then I don't follow high school or college football.

What's that O cap on the right?

For Oregon.

Basically what the thread is referencing is this ridiculous dog and pony show that happens at HS football allstar games. Big recruits who are undecided but have a short list of 3 or 4 schools wait until these games to choose who they will commit to.

They do it by having caps of the different schools laid out and he puts on the one he is going to go to.

I figured it was something like that.

Does Mecca know that there's a high school kid who hits and covers like Taylor Mays?

This could be the most infamous example of showboating in the high school all-star game

Yea, i dont like it either...

They have been doing it awhile though. I remember when Adrian Peterson declared OU over Texas during the game.

I don't know why any top recruits would want to play for Arizona right about now.

I think Marcus Lucas was going to do the hat thing, but he decided to commit to Mizzou when they had only one spot left. Either way, it was good to see a couple future Mizzou kids playing.
