Electronics Do HDMI cables matter?

So, at Best Buy, they swear up and down that the "Monster 1000" is the best cable, and will provide the best possible picture at 120-240 refresh rates. I recently purchased a plasma T.V., so, as I understand, they have a 600 HZ refresh rate, indicating that they can take unlimited refresh-rated content, which of course would imply that if the bandwidth of my cable is too low I could be creating a bottleneck by getting a 60 HZ cable. But...from what I've researched, it sounds like there is absolutely no source on earth that I would ever connect to that is broadcasting faster than 60 HZ.

Is it a ripoff to buy a 120 or 240 HZ "Monster" cable? They cost 3-4 times as much. Thanks!

do not buy monster cables, absolutely not. I used to work as a retail salesman and they put constant pressure on you to sell monster cables and warranties because they are both 80% pure profit for them. If a salesman doesn't sell enough monster cables or warranties than they will be fired, that's why they push so hard. You can buy a $10 cable online and it will be just as good as the $100 monster cable. Trust me.

Nebraska Furniture Mart. They paid us well, really well actually. But I was under constant pressure to sell warranties and monster cables, if you didn't get the numbers, you were fired. I never got fired, but I quit because it sucked dealing with people and shoving those things down the customers throats. They will do everything they can to sell a warranty and will do everything they can to not honor it.

Want to know the difference between monster cable and monoprice? Monoprice just sells you cheap, perfectly fine cables. Monster dumps a bucket of money into a bullshit marketing campaign and henchmen to make salespeople pimp their shit.

Wow. Guess I won't do any of my electronics shopping there. Nothing pisses me off more as a customer than trying to force warranties down my throat.

A lot of retailers do that now. I got fired from Best Buy over not sticking a gun to a customers head and telling them to buy monster cables or I was going to blow their ****ing brains out.
