Life vacation

Just booked a vacation for this fall after I return. Going to Maui, got a good deal on flight and hotel at the sheraton. I'm excited about it, just sharing.....

Anyone ever been? Is the trip to see pearl harbor worth it? All I really care to do is re-connect with the wife, sit on a beach with a drink in my hand and the sun on shining on me and not have to worry about anything blowing up.

A couple of people in my office have been to Maui many times, they love it. They swear it's the best part of Hawaii, no other island compares. I've never been there.

Maui is absolutely beautiful. Went there a few years back and want to go back so bad. We really didn't do any of the tourist things like Pearl Harbor or anything, but just relaxed on the beach and hung out in the entertainment district at night. You'll have a great time!

a part of me is very compelled to take the pearl harbor tour, tickets seem a bit high, but just to see the history. Then again, just relaxing on the beach sounds very compelling as well, LOL.

We are supposed to be able to walk to the entertainment district, with many shops and restaurants to choose from, any you remember standing out that would be worth our time?

Never been there, but have heard it's a great vacation spot. Gotta get there myself someday. Enjoy your time off -- you've earned it, soldier...

I stayed at the Sheraton in Maui last November. It was fairly nice. You can walk a path up the beach past several hotels to a shopping/dining area called Whalers Village. The beach at the Sheraton is the best on that side of the island. If you go to Oahu, it is more touristy and that is where you would see Pearl Harbor. It is worth it if you have never been. It is a somber experience to visit the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri is also available for tours.

Great island. Rent a car and spend a day driving the coast. Snorkeling is great and a must. Eat as much fresh fish and fruit as you can find...I have found "trip advisor" to be a great site for local info/insight. Hope this helps.

There's a place that rents Harley's just down the street, I'm going that route.

Can you get road head on a motorcycle?
Wonder if my wife would be down for that.....

Get the book Maui Revealed before you go. Blows away anything Lonely Planet, Trip Advisor or anyone else puts out.
