LAWRENCE, Kan. -- A University of Kansas student says she was raped at a fraternity house Saturday night, the first weekend the university was in session.
Lawrence police said a KU student was at the Delta Chi fraternity house on W. Campus Road Saturday night and fell asleep in one of the rooms. The woman told police Andrew Hansen came into the room and sexually assaulted her.
"I went to the fraternity house the other night. I'm very surprised" said KU junior Clare Harvey.
News of the allegations didn't sit well with with students.
"I'm a sophomore, I love going to school here," student Elizabeth Meyers said. "I feel safe when I go out on the weekends, but nothing, I mean, I never like hearing things like that"

Police said Hansen was arrested Monday and formal charges were filed Monday afternoon. According to jail records, Hansen lists his home address as the fraternity house. No one from Delta Chi or its national headquarters wanted to comment on the situation.
Some students at KU said the allegations are upsetting, but believe it was an isolated incident.
"I hope it's not a reflection of KU of any sort, it's one person in a really big school" said Harvey.
Hansen is scheduled to be back in court on Tuesday.

~25 years ago, there were girls that passed out at our house all the time. I never participated, but I know there were a few liberties taken that should never have been taken. It's absolutely appalling to think about it now. I never realized, until later, the stupidity and and arrogance of college-aged kids.

I dated and had a fairly serious relationship with a girl that got raped at a frat party.


I always wondered why she was very different when it came to sex, but when she finally told me the story it all came together.


I know we should be attacking the guy in this situation, and he is wrong and should be raped by a spanish pineapple, but a woman should protect herself by not putting herself in a bad situation. There are a lot of sick bastards out there.
