So I was going through some old boxes and found some VHS tapes from when I was in high school. Turns out I still had a bunch of football games recorded and I was watching the commercials that would play just looking at how different stuff was then, and saw a few of these. Id forgotten all about them.

My favorite from that era was where Jerry Stiller played the ghost of Lombardi walking through locker rooms. "What's this? They've got RADIOS in the helmets now?? This is football, not Buck Rogers!! What are you going to tell Steve Young that he doesn't already know??? 'Hey Steve - you know that ball you're running around with? Throw it to RICE for crying out loud!!"

Heard a rumor that the Lombardi family actually sued to get those commercials off the air. Something about the likeness of Vince, or something. Boo.

Bike was asked to pull the campaign off the air because of a protest by an advocacy group for people with mental illness. They claimed that Denis Hopper was portraying a mentally ill person and that exploited people with mental diseases.
I was a young neophyte in the ad business and remember being mad at what a load of crap that was.

NFL is gay now. Bruce Smith was a bad ass. He'd be neutered in todays game.
along with countless others.

I watched a deal today on Atwater...bad ass. He'd be broke today simply because of the fines from Goddell.
