There are things to love and hate about him:
Very good hands and is one of the best at shedding OTs at the college level. Great power for his size Plays with great leverage Non-stop motor Great bend/flexibility My only qualm with him is the lack of explosion/overall speed and athleticism. It's average at best. I'd also be interested to see how he measures in; his arms don't look very long to me. If we were going to draft another OLB prospect in the first 2 rounds, I'd rather take someone like Dupree. What's there to fight about? He's a better prospect by far than Dee Ford and look at where Ford went.
The guy is a the type of guy that will become a true pro and model citizen in my mind. He's a good pass rusher. He's accomplished in judo, and I think that helps with his hand-to-hand stuff inside the trenches. Only major flag is the two torn ACLs. That's the only reason I think he could fall out of the 1st round. |

IMO, Kikaha benefitted from Danny Shelton getting double and tripled teamed nearly every down. (And Shelton ended up with 9 sacks on the season from the DT/NT position.) The Huskies lined him up wide on both sides and he got to face OT's on an island because guards, centers, TE's, RB's, waterboys, cheerleaders and the like had to help on Shelton. Not a lot of moves, just mainly employed an absolutely fierce bull rush, which was quite effective against college tackles. I'm not sure how that translates to the pros.
That being said, Kikaha is a pretty solid player. He's strong, violent, instinctive and a top notch motor. However, he does lack the elite burst and athleticism of someone like Utah's Nate Orchard, who is fluid and athletic enough to drop back into coverage and be quite effective. I don't think that Kikaha is going to be able to do that at the next level. He didn't do it in college. Actually, the current NFL player that Kikaha reminds me of is Tamba Hali. He's not as thick as Hali (but his frame could easily carry another 20 lbs.), but he's got a similar mindset and game. I'd still take Cody Prewitt or Paul Dawson at that point versus Kikaha. |

Maybe.
His arms are pretty thick and his legs look full. You might be right. It might be hard to put 20 more lbs. of quality weight on that frame. It's Orchard who looks skinny to me. Personally, I think Utah's been full of shit about his weight. I'm interested in what he comes in at at the Combine. |

FWIW, I completely agree with OldSchool. I had the exact same impressions watching him. He is so danged good at beating double teams but I am concerned about his ability to close on the QB in time at the pro level. JMO.
