Willie Roaf named to New Orleans Saints All-50th Team

It's a nice honor for the most dominating tackle I've ever seen play the game.

As part of the New Orleans Saints' celebration of their 50th anniversary, the team has announced a list of the 50 best players in franchise history.

Some of the selections are no-brainers like Rickey Jackson, Drew Brees, Morten Andersen and Willie Roaf, but the list is a fairly extensive overview of the talent that has been with the team over the past five decades.

A committee of voters determined the list. The group of selectors included the members of the Saints' Ring of Honor, personnel executives and media members as well as balloting on the team's website.

The group also includes several active players, some of whom are no longer with the team. The Saints will honor the players on Dec. 4 when they host the Detroit Lions.

Here is the list in alphabetical order:

WR Danny Abramowicz

K Morten Andersen

C LeCharles Bentley

I focused on Big Willie for a series way back when. Dude drove 2 dudes back for as long as there was field (LOS very close to the ez), I think it was that sweep left they ran with Priest. Roll outa bed strong man.

Willie is a big guy.

Overall, this seems like a reasonable list, so I approve. However, I've never heard the name of Joe Federspiel before and he played in my prime fanship era.

Dalton Hilliard surprises me a bit. Is he really one of the best backs they've ever had?

It is the franchise that traded an entire draft for Rickey Williams.

He should be the starter on the All Time team, the man had no weaknesses in his game

He could be a bulldozing mauler, and a brick wall with Fred Astaire feet equally well... best LT of the modern passing age no question about it, he was a better pass blocker than Ogden and a better run blocker than Pace

My favorite Chief. Guy looked like the Flintstone's car once he got to the second level, just ruining people's day. Would love to hear some in-game audio from a DB when they saw Willie turn up field their way.

Pass rushers had no chance against him. No matter who it was they were going to lose.

I had to look it up, but the guy in the middle of the picture if Rickey Jackson. The idiot on the right is the guy who thinks he runs the league.

I've heard stories that restaurants would have to close doors after Chiefs linemen would eat everything including the waitresses and cooks. By the looks of Roaf I believe it.
