Hey you mechanics! Why the *&#@*! does 2005 F150 hood release have two cables??

One cable for popping the hood from the inside the cab,

And a *(&^%#@ 2nd cable connected to a little lever beneath the grill to fully release the latch.

There are at least 10 videos on youtube showing what to do when the cab release cable breaks...

BUT NONE showing what to do when the 2nd release cable breaks!!!

I spent an hour Sunday pushing and prying stuff with a 12" screwdriver hoping to miraculously hit the magical button. Nope.

Got to the point where I didn't care and was considering smashing a hole in the grill to get to something.

HOW DOES ONE OPEN THE HOOD IF THE 2ND CABLE IS BUSTED?

I will name my next dog after you if you can tell me how.

Thanks!
