Trent Williams to the Browns?

Trent Williams to Cleveland rumor emerges

Dysfunctional teams do dysfunctional things. But sometimes they do something that makes sense, against their nature.

Washington may soon be throwing in the towel on the Trent Williams holdout, trading the disgruntled left tackle in advance of the deadline that arrives in only two weeks.

Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository shares the news with a tweet that is oozing more with rumor than it is dripping with hard news: “Hearing Trent Williams should be on Browns roster quite soon.”

The Browns clearly need the help at left tackle, and they’re surely feeling sufficiently desperate at 2-4 to try to turn things around with a big, bold move that would help bolster one of the biggest flaws on their offense, which would make it easier for sophomore slumping quarterback Baker Mayfield to buy more time to throw.

It’s unclear whether other teams are pursuing Williams; he’s good enough that there should be an auction for his services. Doerschuk’s information, if accurate, implies that the auction (f there is one) has ended, that the Browns have emerged as the winners, and that it’s only a matter of time before Williams officially is shipped to Cleveland.

This guy comes with a big price tag... Would love to have him on the left side and move Fisher to guard... There's no hope for the defense this year even with a defensive trade... Too many holes... Having Trent and Fish on the left side would allow us to run and pass a lot better...and
Getting up a couple scores in the 4th quarter would help the defense and maybe we could run some to burn clock..
It's not going to happen but it would be cool to have Mahomes left side protected by two pro bowlers...

I wonder if the Chiefs are even considering a move like this. I know Andy doesnt seem to value high paid lineman but after watching Patrick get crushed, maybe he changes his mind?
Im no expert but could Fish kick inside to LG and have Williams at LT. Seems like a really solid left side of the line to me?

I know... Right? I think this makes more sense than a defensive player... I just think the cost is too high as far as picks and he wants a huge contract..

Guard doesn't really match his strengths at all.

Dorsey has got to overpay here, which is what it's going to take to get it done.

Greg Robinson has been horrible at LT and the line issues are killing the DrEaM tEaM

I guess it's a game changer because somehow the browns have a shot in that shyte division. But a LT isn't going to teach Mayfield to stop panicking every time his first read is swallowed up. I guess the benefit is it might help them lean on Chubb who is actually good.
