So how can Kyler Murray be competent?

I think there are exceptions to every rule for every position in the NFL, such as slow players can be good WRs, smaller LBs can still hold up against the run, and quarterbacks can be short.

But I don't know how Kyler Murray does it, like, physically. I don't get it.

He's 5'9", he can't possibly see over the linemen in front of him, even when they lean over some. I have people in my life who are 6'5" and 250, and I can't see around them at all in any way. Now imagine they're even bigger than that, and there's five of them in front of you.

How is it possible that a QB this short can play adequately in the NFL? Who here watches the Cardinals a ton?

Right, but that's only what he does on some plays. He isn't a "pure" pocket passer but he's in the pocket at least as much as Mahomes is.

Kyler Murray is the most talented QB to come into the NFL last 5 years other than Mahomes.

KK is the only thing holding him back.

Yes, but look at where he is in the pocket most often then not. Like Mahomes, he drifts way back, changing the angle, allowing him to see the field.

He does it on his most successful plays.

From the pocket he has problems with intermediate accuracy (from what I've seen) and to me that's a problem of height/leverage. It's hard to drive a ball downhill into a tight space when you're shorter than the dudes in front of you and can't get on top of it.

But I think you underestimate by a little how many truly spectacular plays he makes by moving the pocket around. I've sure heard "that's a play only Mahomes could make" a lot of times on plays that I've seen Kyler Murray make.

The difference is the rate they get made at. Murray, when he's good, is just as spectacular as Mahomes is. He's just not that good as often and he's nowhere near as good when he's ordinary.

It's Peak Mickelson vs. Peak Tiger. Mickelson's best shots were as good as anything Woods could do. He just didn't have as many of them and his ordinary shots weren't as good as Tigers.

We have never had a hyper-mobile QB with this much arm talent.

Kyler Murray was still the best QB in his draft and a 1st round pick if he only ran a 4.7.

When you take his arm talent and then throw in a 4.3 40 with agility it's ridiculous talent.

Arizona needs to fire KK if he doesn't get them into the playoffs this year.

When Russ was on Gruden's QB Camp in the spring of his draft year, they talked about this. Gruden was showing him film of Brees and talking about height, and said it basically comes down to finding your "windows" of sight in the OL. Ideally, the smaller guys are going to be in shotgun a lot or taking deeper drops so they have some guaranteed distance to get a better line of sight.

I don't know what it all means. I get the gist of it, but I have no idea if I'm oversimplifying things. I'm not a QB, so I can't say for sure.

It seems to me that this has got to be true even for the QBs that aren't necessarily the "midgets" but also not the big 6'4+ guys. There aren't many offensive linemen shorter than 6'2 or so, and I seriously doubt there are any starting OTs at all out there at that height or shorter.

In general, I think the QB height thing is a bit overrated. Kyler is an exceptional case in shortness for sure, but if Brees and Wilson can make future HOF careers out of their height, which is only an inch or two taller, I assume for Kyler he uses the exact same process they do for seeing the field.

Does Kyler get lot of balls knocked down at the LoS?

It seems like he would since his release point would be lower because of his height.
