Draft Simulator

I'm not a draft guy but I was online reading different mock drafts. I have seen some of you post your mock drafts using a draft simulator so I thought I would try it out. I didn't have a plan going into the draft I just picked the player I have heard good things about. I'm not sure how realistic these are but here are my first 4 round draft results:

KC
30.

Treylon Burks
WR Arkansas
KC
44.

David Ojabo
EDGE Michigan
trade icon
KC
50.

George Pickens
WR Georgia
KC
62.

Cameron Thomas
EDGE San Diego State
KC
78.

Trey McBride
TE Colorado State
trade icon
KC
94.

Rachaad White
RB Arizona State
KC
103.

Calvin Austin III
WR Memphis
KC
121.

Zyon McCollum
CB Sam Houston State
KC
135.

Nick Cross
S Maryland

I did accept one trade.

I thought the same thing when drafting but they only have one signed after this year.

First timer post. Long time Chiefs fan since 1969. I just wanted to post about the NFL Draft. Saw your post and thought I would reply.
First off, Treylon Burks will not fall to 30. All of the top 6 WRs may be gone by pick 29. Should we want Jameson Williams or Treylon Burks we will first have to trade up and then trade down with pick 30 to recoup lost picks. Trey McBride will be gone at pick 92 by Green Bay. David Ojabo and Cameron Thomas at 44 and 78 may not be available. Calvin Austin too at 103. While I like your picks, it is not a likely scenario and it does not address all of our team needs.
I too, have been doing mock drafts for the Chiefs over at nflmockdraftdatabase.com (realistic mode)
with two goals in mind. One, the Chiefs only got 31 sacks last year. That's got to change. Two, in losing Tyreek lets go after taller and fast WRs.
With this in mind, I take Christian Watson at pick 29
I then trade down with Houston. They get pick 30 and we get picks 37 and 107. 13 picks total. With the next three picks I will transform that defensive front line with three players that, like the Chiefs, also combined for 31 sacks last year.
37 DL Logan Hall (7 sacks) He can play inside or out.
50 EDGE Cameron Thomas (11.5 sacks)
62 EDGE Sam Williams (12.5 sacks)
94 LB Damone Clark (a tackling machine with 136 tackles last year)
103 S Kerby Joseph
107 CB Alontae Taylor
121 TE Jelani Woods
135 RB Rashaad White
233 WR Samori Toure
243 OT Ausin Deculus
251 CB Josh Thompson
259 WR Isaiah Weston
At picks 121 and 135 it gets down to who is left available.
Players of interest at this point are OT Luke Goedeke, RB James Cook, WR Tyquan Thornton and WR Erik Ezukanma.
In round 7 other players of interest would be RB Max Borghi, TE Gerrit Prince, S Joey Blount, CB Montaric Brown, and CB Jack Jones.
So in the end here, our defense is now stout across the board and all of our new WRs are all tall and fast. JuJu will be our shortest starting WR at 6' 1". Any thoughts???

While I like many of the players you've taken here, I find this draft about as unrealistic as the OP's; which is to say, ehhh, who knows? I doubt White is there at 135. He's more likely a mid-third.

As for Burks and Ojabo being there at the end of the first, ONE of them is almost certain to be, and that's Ojabo.

One is about 50/50, and that's Burks. Had his combine numbers been better, I would agree that he will not.

I love Watson at #50; not as much at #29 or 30, but who knows?

Well who knows. I am just saying that I drafted the listed players at nflmockdraftdatabase.com (realistic mode)
I also use nfldraftbuzz.com for player analysis.
Just like in fantasy football, every year I will have fun and do about 50 mock drafts. But not once have I gotten all of my desired players as mocked. Some team out there always jumps in and takes a player sooner than projected.
Veach and company, like a chess master, will do their due diligence and explore all options. The Chiefs top 30 visits are telling. I really like Jameson Williams coming in to Kansas City, but to get him we would have to trade up to pick 14 (IMO). Only they know. Its all speculation at this point for us. But we can have fun dreaming.
By the way does anybody know of a fantasy football league comprised of all Chiefs fans? I play every year at yahoo sports and would love to play with Chiefs fans. But be forewarned. I have a decent record there at 256-140-5. I have played 25 teams and have gotten 17 trophies with 10 of those being first place trophies. You will be challenged if I join your league! I wonder if there are any Chiefs players that play fantasy football. Like Austin Ekeler "Ekelers Edge" with the Chargers.
Man I cant wait for this draft. Veach has to nail it.

At least 2 WRs. I personally would like to get 3 WRs. And lets get 2 edge rushers instead of just one edge rusher as I have seen in some mock drafts.

Ok. Mock Draft revision to previous mock draft. Due to depth of positions, I have concluded that I will draft by position in this order; WR, DL, EDGE, EDGE, LB, S, CB, WR and the rest will vary based on player availability at positions still in need.
In my draft I got 14 picks. I had to trade down at pick 30 with Cleveland (got picks 44,99 and 118) to get my RB and TE later. I really like these guys and feel that they would be good fits for the Chiefs. I also like RB Rashaad White and TE Jelani Woods but they are not always available and after doing more film room study, I have concluded that these players are just as good if not better and they were always available. In fact, the only variables I ran into in doing this draft 3 times in a row was at LB-Chad Muma or Damone Clark and at S Kerby Joseph or Nick Cross.
It was not planned, but I double checked and my WRs here are all 6'3" tall, run 4.4 40s and all are good route runners.
In posting this draft, I know it is subject to scrutiny. That is to be expected. There are tons of options for the Chiefs and this draft is just my opinion. Show me your opinion too. Its all good. Lets have fun with this.
So without further ado, this is what I came up with;

29 WR George Pickens
44 DL Logan Hall
50 EDGE Cameron Thomas
62 EDGE Sam Williams
94 LB Damone Clark
99 S Kerby Joseph
103 CB Alontae Taylor
118 WR Erik Ezukanma
121 RB Jerome Ford
135 TE Cole Turner
233 WR Samori Toure
243 OT Ryan Van Demark
251 S Percy Butler
259 CB Josh Thompson

pff has a draft simulator that is pretty easy to work with. yall should check it out if you haven't already.

I did a 3 round one (I am not familiar with guys past the 4th round).

KC Sends #30, a 2nd next year, plus this year's 3rd and 4th rounders for #15

Jameson Williams, WR at 15.
Andrew Booth, CB at 30.
Nick Bonitto, Edge at 50.
Josh Paschal, Edge at 62.
Luke Goedeke, RT at 94

I don't feel DT is as big a concern this year as most others? We still have Chris Jones lol. And a handful of rotational guys after him who all do different things and have value. We were 31st in sacks last year and I think we were mostly missing pressure off the edge. Enter Bonitto, edge pass rushing specialist. And Paschal is one of my favorite edge players in this draft, he plays everwhere, is 270+ pounds (Bonitto is about 245-250), and I just like being able to use Bonitto as a specialist and Paschal as more of a early down player.

This is the year to take Edge rushers, and once you get past the elite guys (like Hutch and maybe 1 or two others), it's all a big cluster of guys that are all very similar in value, many of which will be had all the way in the 3rd round and later like Sam Williams.

The WR is the key here. After Williams, it's a huge dropoff/difference in elite potential and that isn't good. The more mocks I run, the more I understand we need to find a way to get him. It's either that or reach for a guy like Pickens/Moore/Watson/Dotson in the 1st because there's likely going to be a run on WR between picks 30 and 50. We're one of the few teams who have the draft capital to trade up, and if it only costs us a 2nd next year and few mid round picks this year I say go ahead and do it.
