We're going to have to just keep drafting well.

So...

I'd been thinking that it would be pretty nuts for Carolina to trade Burns or Moore. It's insane to trade your good, young, cost controlled talent...for what? A chance at good, young, cost controlled talent via the draft? Dumb. Makes no sense. Ditching big contracts is another matter.

So I took a look around at who's shitty, needs to rebuild, and needs picks.

Raiders? Sure, but they're not going to deal with KC. Donks, same thing.

Lots of competitive divisions, not a lot of sellers.

Houston? Yeah, but they've got a TON of picks thanks to the Watson deal. And not much we need. Cleveland? Yeah, but unless you want to absorb Miles Garrett's big assed contract, there's not much there at areas of need.

Jax? I think they're getting better, and most of their good players are still cost controlled.

There just isn't much out there that's going to move the needle at all that would make any sense for either team.

so I took a look at '23 free agents, just thinking about next year.

YIKES.

There isn't shit for OT's. Nothing but over the hill DE's. Overpaid brokedicks, has-beens, and never-weres.

We're kind of ****ed. We're going to have to manifest OT's and DE's from the draft, and that's about damned all there is to it.

When I say we're ****ed, I mean in regards to upgrading these positions. Obviously, standing pat is not ****ed, as we revel in dropping 44 on San Fran heading into the bye.

I mean...we're going to have to do something like a Clark deal again or something. We ain't getting a plus LT or plus DE at #32 or wherever.

Thing with the cheap contracts is some of those aren’t gonna be cheap for much longer. So if they can move them for something the help rebuild or whatever, you gotta do it at times.

We also don’t know who may be available that we haven’t heard about

Just curious - generally speaking not specific to the Chiefs - can you remember in recent past where a team traded a player where there wasn’t some media coverage about being on the trade block or rumors swirling around a players availability? I can’t think of anyone getting traded in recent memory where I was like “oh **** didn’t see that coming”

I think he is explaining why you would get rid of a player on a cheap contract. You know they will be too expensive by them time you are done rebuilding

I take it your silence means you agree that generally who is available via trade is pretty common knowledge and rarely is there a surprise no one saw coming.

I’d guess there’s some calls being made about some of the commanders or jags dl that they may wanna move

There’s always a surprise or two

Raiders aren’t shitty. I think they still have a solid shot to make the playoffs.
