Offseason Plan with Mock Draft

I'm sure I'm not very good at this, especially when it comes to contracts/cap hits...but it's fun so rip away. I did the mock draft at PFN's free 7-round site.

I think Travis is going to retire. I think Trey Smith and Nick Bolton will be too expensive. Justin Reid is going to be tough but I'd like him back.

I'd love to bring Hollywood, Wharton, and Omenihu back. I'd also probably bring either Samaje or Kareem back as long as I'm able to draft a RB.

Free agents:
(LT) Alaric Jackson, Rams. I think he's a good option because he's younger and has shown himself to be good.

(G) Patrick Mekari, Ravens. Helps absorb the loss of Trey Smith and looming end for Thuney in a year or two. And hurts the Ravens.

Draft:
1 (31): Kenneth Grant, DL, Michigan. I love this guy. Putting him around Chris Jones could be lethal. Need to build both trenches and he's too good to pass up here.

2 (63): TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State. Judkins was also available, but Henderson seems to be the explosive guy we're looking for. Maybe some injury concern, but a possible home run hitter.

TRADE 3 (66) to Colts for 3 (80) and 2026 3rd round pick. Flip that 2026 3rd rounder to the Falcons for TE Kyle Pitts. Pitts is NOT the Kelce replacement. Nobody is. But he's another round 1 reclamation project who could benefit from having a real QB and competent coach.

3 (80): Ajani Cornelius (OT), Oregon. Adding to the tackle room behind Jackson and giving us the eventual replacement for Jawaan Taylor upon his inevitable release after next season.

3 (95): Jay Higgins (LB), Iowa. My obligatory Hawkeye pick. All he does is make plays. I think he'll be a very good NFL player.

5 (168): J.J. Pegues (DT), Ole Miss. Great athlete, converted Tight End. Could be a fun guy to use around the goal line on offense too, and we all know Andy loves that (much to my dismay sometimes).

7 (232): Xavier Truss (OL), Georgia. Massive guy who has some positional flexibility, completing a restocking of the trenches.

7 (256): Alijah Huzzie (CB), North Carolina. A guy with a ton of college experience who can jump into the slot, play special teams, who knows? We have to take a CB in the 7th, right?

Appreciate you putting it out there Cali.

Mekari was one of the most penalized offensive linemen in the league and is a pretty shit run blocker, not to mention he gave up more pressure than you'd like to see. Given the estimate from Spotrac at 10.3 AAV, he is not on my radar. His appeal is really his versatility. If I could get him on a contract like Allegretti signed, then sure.

I'm on board with Alaric Jackson if he makes it to FA. Not the greatest LT in the world but he's good enough to keep Patrick from turning into a pumpkin.

Kenneth Grant... I don't know if I see him there at 31 but I would like the pick if we can address LT In FA.

I do like the rest of the draft. I think it's solid. I like Henderson, even if I think paying day 2 price for a RB is a tough pill to swallow. I think Cornelius can develop. I like Higgins and Pegues a lot.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback! I didn't know that about Mekari.

You're right though...we have to address LT as our top priority. I like to address it in FA because then we can take BPA, but that's also an expensive option. We'll see!

I like the draft, I hate trading for Pitts.

Look I'd love to see what he could do here, but trading for a guy and having to pay him that fifth year option his a hard pass. In fact, if I'm Atlanta I'm not sure I would give him the 5th year option.

You have to look beyond the hype and realize that's what he is

Dude caught 47 balls on 74 targets.
600 yards
4 TDs

Thats the most TDs he's had in a season, and he got 1000 yards on 110 targets his rookie season.

Noah Gray meanwhile had 40 catches on 49 targets for 437 yards and 5 TDs

I think spending a future 3rd round pick and spending 11M next year on Pitts is a HUGE overpay for what you're getting unless you just wwwant to see the headlines.

I like it, but I think Kingsley slides into the rg or morris so the fa signing of a guard I wouldn’t do. Gotta go cheap somewhere on the line and get something out of Kingsley or morris. Love the LT signing.

I'll take another run post-round one of FA:

ProFootballNetwork

1.31: Walter Nolen (DT), Ole Miss
Exciting young DT with tons of athleticism/potential. We go for one of the top DT's in round 1...and while it's a best player available situation, it's also a position of need for us.

2.63: Mason Taylor (TE), LSU
Another BPA pick but will be the heir apparent to the TE1 position in 2026. I've heard Travis say great things about him on their podcast, and I think he's got what we're looking for...not to mention that father/son NFL pedigree.

3.66: Princely Umanmielen (EDGE), Ole Miss
Back to Mississippi with our 3rd pick. This guy was clearly BPA on the board when I picked, and gives us another edge rusher to push Felix. I think he can be really effective in the NFL.

3.95: Ajani Cornelius (OT), Oregon
I picked him in my first draft too, I believe. I think he's ascending as a tackle and would slide in at RT when we move on from Jawaan Taylor after next season. Lots of potential here.

4.133: Jacob Parrish (CB), Kansas State
Too much value at a critical position to pass on. Ran a 4.35. Not sure he's a Spags guy, but I see a ton of potential here.

Chiefs trade their 2026 4th round pick (and hold onto the Bears' pick) along with 7.251 for pick 5.176 (trade with Jets)

5.176: Dylan Sampson (RB), Tennessee
Dynamic player at a position of future need. Sampson gives us some juice at a position where we're kind of heavy (except for Mitchell, who is injury-prone). I would love to see Sampson in our backfield. Bye Carson Steele.

7.226: Nazir Stackhouse (DT), Georgia
One more big guy for the D-line that needs rotational bodies with Pennel and Nnadi apparently gone.

7.257: Karene Reid (LB/ST), Utah
A guy who can help on ST.

Did everyone forget about TE Jared Wiley? Dude is going to be a baller this year and people are acting like he never existed and how we need to draft a Kelce replacement. We already have. Not picking on you specifically, Cali, but I've been seeing this in nearly all mock drafts. People on this forum have done this and the media people as well. It's just like "wtf". I hope Jared Wiley sees every single one of the mock drafts that act like he doesn't exist and take that disrespect to heart.

Totally hear you. If Wiley comes back strong from the injury AND we have Mason Taylor, it opens up some great 2-TE looks. I just think Taylor’s going to be really good.

Personally, I've been dropping TE to a much lower need than what I seem to see on simulators, but I have no idea whether the team regards it the same way. I know we were pretty high on Wiley's potential before the injury, but was that justified?

I really don't think he showed anything at all that suggests next year he'll be a big factor, especially after injury. On the other hand, as a few others have suggested, now is probably the time to pivot to a more WR-focused offense rather than attempt to replace Kelce. That'd be my preference.

I really like Taylor at TE as well. It is quite the issue with having Grey and drafting Wiley last year to think we'd go spend a 2nd on a TE this year though.

My only major knock on this is that I don't think you're going to get Dylan Sampson in the 5th round. He's probably one of the top 7-8 RBs in this class.

You're probably looking at the top 10 RBs lining up as:

1. Ashton Jeanty - 1st
2. TreVeyon Henderson - 1st-2nd
3. Omarion Hampton - 1st-2nd
4. Quinshon Judkins - 2nd-3rd
5. Dylan Sampson - 2nd-3rd
6. Kaleb Johnson - 3rd
7. Bhayshul Tuten - 3rd-4th
8. Cam Skattebo - 3rd-4th
9. RJ Harvey - 3rd-4th
10. Damien Martinez - 4th

You can argue one way or another about the order and even the end of the list at 9-10 but this seems to be around the area of consensus right now.

I mean, I have other knocks but that doesn't mean I'm right. I have Walter Nolen going top 15.
I'm not overly enamored with Cornelius though maybe I'll go back and watch more of him again.

Well, now see here's the thing.

Kelce is returning. You've got Gray entrenched at TE2. You've got Wiley who's had a year in the system at least mentally.

If you draft a TE, you're drafting a TE4. He's going to play some teams, and that's pretty much it, barring injury. AND no matter who you pick, he ain't going to be prime Travis Kelce. So what's the point, really?

I don't think I would concern myself AT ALL with TE in 2025. In '26? Sure, I'll be looking. But not super high, for a TE3.

The only thing wrong with Noah Gray is that he plays on a team with Travis Kelce.

You're not going to get another Kelce, so why not just keep filling that WR and RB room?
