I can't blame Green, Vermeil, or Carl for any of this. It's just BAD LUCK!!!!!!!

green is doing the best he can with what he has. he had no time with both morton or kenisson during training camp. plus each of them are still not 100% his main hook ups during training camp were Boe, cris wilson, and smith. boe is out for this season and wilson probably out for the majority of the season. smith is a first year rookie that probably needs 2 seasons before he will contribute substantially to the team. then you have the inevitable decline of our O-line with welbourne needing more playing time before he is up to speed. 3 solid years this O line has been the best in the nfl. it was bound to weaken sooner rather than later. then you have TG who is our only reciever right now and he is even playing with a foot that will need surgery during the off season. any team would be out of their heads not double team him and take him out of the game plan which each team we've played has successfully done.

there you have it. although i have had faith that KC will some how pull it out this season and win 11 games now given the above it may be a off year for the chiefs. they will rebound big time next year but the above circumstances may be to much for the coaching staff to overcome this season.

i have not even addressed the glaring problems on D that appear not to improve substantially until we can add more talent during the off season. the good news is we have plenty of draft picks next year so we have better chance of picking up some one good. i'm sure we can make some free agency moves as well both defensively and offensively.

if we can win 10 games it will be (down from my expectation of 12 wins) it will be nothing short of spectacular, and vermeil and company should get the accolades they would deserve for such an achievement.

with all the above we have arguably the toughest schedule in the nfl so winning 10 games could mean a lot come playoff time (if we make it with 10 that is).

all and all I have a wait and see attitude about it. i'm very disappointed with the way things played out before even the season began. it's very unfortunate. we really needed the offense to be at the level they were last year with everyone at or near 100% and players like Boe and kris wilson to add yet another dynamic. even smith could have been more of contributor if there was no pressure for him to be a #1 or #2 WR. Our D had to improve just slightly for us to get over the hump. now it looks like all bets are off!

it truly is disappointing and I can't really blame vermeil and his coaching staff or even Carl for the predicament they are in. it is just BAD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Yes and no. Good teams make their luck. Bad teams fall back on the bad luck excuse. I agree that the rash of injuries have hurt this team, but they also chose to ignore obvious holes that were going to be eventually exposed (WR, DB, LB, DE).

This is all BS.
You can blame Carl and Dick.
They didn't address glaring weaknesses, and now those weaknesses are biting us in the ass.

It's that simple.

As I kept saying to my FiL when he was commenting on how lucky Del Homme was throughout the game, "You make your own luck." (or in the case of Jake, our crappy defense makes his luck).

I do feel, at times, that we're getting some bad breaks and that a pall has settled over the team; however, I don't think it has anything to do with luck. It has to do with us sitting still in free agency, not using $6 mil in cap room, and squandering draft picks over the last couple of years. That's how we've made our luck. If you want good luck, you plan for bad scenarios and prepare for them. We didn't.

I totally agree with Milkman. I have had fits during free agency and the draft as a Cheifs fan since Carl and Vermeil have joined forces. They moved up to get Sims...but he still has not made the impact we had hoped for. FA has been a joke....and the rest of the draft picks have been reaches, drafted too high, tweeners (Battle)...or others of the sort.

bullchit

everyone knew that we needed help at Cornerback,Middle Linebacker,Right Defensive End and Wide Receiver.

Vermeil/Carl/Lamar Chose to not address these issues

and now those very positions are a major problem

if we would of gone after a #1 receiver... all the injuries wouldn't of been such an issue.

same for Middle Linebacker

Gunther has already pulled back from the blitz because our coverage is too shaky to allow it. Once again... a problem that was obvious before the season is hurting us during the season.

Injuries Happen.... but the damage for those injuries is being magnified because of the mistakes that were made it the offseason. Mistakes that were glaringly evident to most.

your post is just another lame excuse for a poor front office

Part of the game, man...

The Chiefs staff made some assumptions that turned out to be wrong:
• Maslowski
• Morton
• Welbourn
• Roaf
• Barber
• Holliday
The off-season decisions were based on those assumptions. If the assumption turns out to be wrong, the decision will likely be flawed.

In addition to those erroneous assumptions, they got hit with some bad luck on the injury front. Injuries to both starters and the 3rd WR in training camp is a statistical anomaly, but that is life in the real world.

The net result is a crippled Offense, struggling to find a way to return to last season’s level.

Still, the Chiefs staff has the responsibility to make the decisions and has to bear the responsibility. There were some apparently good decisions [Gunther, Tynes, Cheek], but the bad ones happened in the area that is critical to the Chiefs success.

so if we got a MLB and #1 receiver we would be 2-0 and the envy of the league even with all the injuries? No way! It sounds as if everyone who replied is discounting the 13-3 record we had last year as a fluke, and will be happy to see both Carl and vermeil and his staff leave after the season so that we can start a new chapter. shake:

That is too simplistic.

However, you are on the right track. Planning, execution and effort can compensate for bad luck. So far, we have not compensated.

so far they have been wrong

making excuses for them is pointless

A product of the easiest schedule we will ever see combined with the other teams not having quite figured out how to defense our offense. So not quite a fluke but not as legitimate as many would like to believe.

To add to Laz's thoughts, if Carl and Dick had addressedd these problem areas, even if they still start the season at 0-2, at least they made the effort to improve.

This team may have been 13-3, but they clearly had deficiencies.
A team can't expect to improve if they don't make an effort to do so.
