Well we need to have a contingency plan in case he doesn't.
The Giants' picks, once again... 1. MLB Dan Connor 2. OLB Erin Henderson 3. S Tyrell Johnson 4. WR Harry Douglas 5. OG Mike Gibson 6. ... Their team needs include: still CB, maybe more OL depth, probably some DE depth too since Strahan's on his last legs. Thoughts. |

I'm going with my personal BPA, which also happens to be a position of need for the 'Phins ever since Randy McMichael left last year.
The Miami Dolphins select Kellen Davis, TE, Michigan State

You guys decide if Tribble is the pick for the Giants.
I noticed that I'm up, but am leaving for work and don't have time to look over my info. We're aerating greens this week and I won't be home until 6-7:00. Direckshun or Mecca - make an executive decision on the Giants and one of you make the pick for me, so I don't hold up the show. We still have a round to get through in the next 10 days. Thanks. |

Tribble it is for the NYG. Nice pick Hamas, I really like Davis' potential at the next level. If need be I can make the G-Men's next pick ON TIME.
I think we can wait for OTW to make his pick. Last edited by Sfeihc; 04-17-2008 at 06:54 PM.. |

I'll try to grade these out as each team finishes its final picks.
Teams that have finished with all of its picks so far are the Eagles, the Bengals, the Steelers, and the Seahawks. Obviously I am the GM now of the Eagles, so I will not be evaluating them. I claim no consistency between the 3-round evals and these. Cincinnati Bengals - B- (Spicy McHaggis) 1. OLB Keith Rivers 2. TE Martellus Bennett 3. OG Roy Schuening 4. LB Marcus Howard 5. DE Kendall Langford 6. FB Jacob Hester The only reason this Draft isn't a C overall is because the picks were consistently strong on value. I do not believe this collection of players were bad picks, I simply believe they were the wrong picks. The Bengals made good by drafting two LBs, but they could have easily drafted three and gotten away with it with the molassis-like speed they were being taken off the board. The Bengals struggle everywhere on defense, especially LB and defensive line, but their secondary sucks as well. Their offense can make do as it is now, and they didn't need the additions of a TE, OG, and FB. The defense could have used a DT, S, and corner. Or even another linebacker. Pittsburg Steelers - D (milkman) 1. OG/OT Brandon Albert 2. OG Chilo Rachal 3. CB Charles Godfrey 4. CB Simeon Castille 5. WR Keenon Burton 6. RB Chauncey Washington My feud with the man of milk continues. Of course I feel like the drafting of two guards with the first two picks (there is zero evidence that Albert could convert comfortably to tackle) was ludacris. But waiting until the 5th round to improve the WR corps for their franchise QB, and drafting two CBs would be acceptable except than only one of them were worth the value of where they were picked (Godfrey). And I don't like Chauncey Washingon -- there are RBs still available now that I'd prefer. Fortunately, the Steelers didn't have that many holes to begin with. And I do like Burton and Godfrey as value picks -- the rest I thought were reaches and I don't know how much better off the Steelers are after this Draft than they were before it. Seattle Seahawks - C+ (DaKCManAP) 1. WR DeSean Jackson 2. TE Brad Cottam 3. DT Ahtyba Rubin 4. OG/OT Mike McGlynn 5. FB Peyton Hillis Pretty limited Draft for the Seahawks, and they were able to address virtually of of their needs in this Draft. The only extra thing they could have used would have been an additional WR for depth or maybe some extra bodies in their secondary, but it's hard to complain about each of the positions they did Draft. My main complaint is value, as I felt each of the Seahawks' first three picks were reaches. Jackson wasn't that bad of one, but people underestimate exactly how hard it is for receivers his size to make an impact in the NFL worthy of a first round pick. Steve Smiths and Santana Mosses are rare for a reason. I don't like investing in receivers that small until much later. Cottam and Rubin I also disliked for value purposes. The Seahawks somewhat righted themselves in the middle rounds with McGlynn and Hillis, though. |

1. Keith Rivers OLB - If one of the top DT's had fallen I would not have hesitated to make the pick. However I'm quite happy with taking Rivers here. He works out as a fairly safe selection, a guy who reminds me a bit of Keith Bulluck. He is a bit more raw in pass coverage but the skill is there. Fills a big need for the defense but as I said before if I'm the Bengals I'm praying one of the big boys falls. 2. Martellus Bennett TE - Was TE a need? IMO, Yes. Reggie Kelly led the Bengals with about 200 yards and no scores. Kelly would be better suited as a second TE or primarily as a blocker. Was TE the top need? Nope. I saw an opportunity though, to add the most complete TE in the draft and in the process give Palmer another receiving weapon. This seemed prudent given Ocho Cinco's tenuous future with the club. 3. Roy Schuening OG - My "eh" pick of the draft. It's not sexy for sure and while LT and LG seem set, right guard position could stand an for an upgrade. Stacy Andrews (RT) was franchised and if a deal can't be reached next year the Bengals could try Roy out at his spot. 4. Marcus Howard LB - Direckshun made this pick but it's one I agreed with. Although my thinking is that the Bengals stay with a base 4-3 there is speculation of some 3-4 packages being incorporated. In light of this, I wanted to add a rush backer. With Crable gone Marcus Howard was next on my list. Might be a bit one-dimensional at first but I think he'll eventually be passable in other phases of the game. 5. Kendall Langford DE - Stuck with my board on this pick. Good amount of potential in this kid, he just has to play up to it. Experience at DT and DE is valuable for the Defensive Line deficient Bengals. He'll probably never be a terror coming of the edge but he's a big, athletic guy who should improve with seasoning. 6. Jacob Hester FB - I'm worried about the pounding Rudi Johnson is subject to starting to take it's toll. Hester isn't going to ever be a feature back but he's got a nose for the goal line, runs hard and is a passable lead blocker If Kenny Irons can come back in full form, Hester could team with him and give the Bengals a decent combo should Rudi get hurt again. Also I've seen nothing but glowing reports of Hester's character and the Bengals could use a bit of that. At the very least the guy should be a special teams demon. Again this was blast to do in an otherwise stressful start of the year. I'd like to reserve my spot for next draft. ![]() |
