I'll be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of what the Cowboys and Colts had done before I got a hold of them, and kind of feel like my hand has been forced. But, I'll do the best I can with these last picks.
The Cowboys select Matt Flynn, QB, LSU The Colts select Chris McDuffie, OG, Clemson |

With the 219th pick the Green Bay Packers select Carlton Powell, DT, Virginia Tech.
They have a need for another rotational DT after Williams left to the Browns. |

Houston Texans - C (Sfeihc)
1. DE Derrick Harvey 3. CB Terrell Thomas 4. OLB Ezra Butler 5. OLB Stanforld Kegler 7. SS Caleb Campbell I honestly don't know what the Texans are supposed to do. They've put themselves in a situation where they need all kinds of OLBs, CBs, OTs, a RB, a DE, and a WR, and they've only allotted themselves five draft picks. It's ridiculous, and there's no way one Draft could rectify all those holes. At least the Chiefs bent over backwards for more picks to address their many holes... That said, the Texans could have utilized the depth in this Draft much better than they did. DE in the first round was a need, but with OTs in the third round that had 1st round abilities, and with CBs in the fifth and sixth round with 1st day abilities, the Texans would have been wise to utilize those far more to their limited advantage. Butler and Campbell were good value late in the Draft, though I wasn't crazy about the Kegler pick when Mike Hart would have been a good-to-great back for their system. |

What I did do for the Texans is provide them with a defensive front that rivals any in the league. With their top corner, Dunta Robinson's, availability for next season is in doubt, a CB in the 3rd round was needed. Fred Bennett played well last year as a rookie and they added Dallas CB, Jacque Reeves for WAY to much money this off season. They also need a SS and a FS. So I did what I thought would best help the Texans by selecting CB, Terrell Thomas. Thomas can play nickel or start opposite Bennett if Robinson isn't ready. If Robinson is ready to play and Reeves can be the nickelback then Thomas becomes a candidate for FS. The Texans starting OLB's are Morlon Greenwood and Chaun Thompson. Yikes! That's why I was very happy to see Ezra Butler still there in the 4th round. When it came to the Texans pick in the 5th and with a OLB who could compliment Butler and ILB D'meco Ryans in Purdue's Stanford Keglar still there I had to make the move. At the very least they now have depth at OLB, best case they have two good starters to compliment Ryans. In the 7th and with their holes at both Safety positions, I knew I could fill a need. The Texans did resign FA's SS C.C. Davis and FS Will Demps after them there's nothing. Army's Caleb Campbell, SS, is a perfect fit. He'll make the roster, no problem and at least be a special teams ace as a rookie and maybe a starter not too far down the road. Knowing I couldn't fix all the Texans problems with only five picks, I think the defense took a giant collective leap forward and in the case of Harvey one of the NFL's premiere defensive lines has been formed. |

1. I liked the Harvey pick and the Butler pick. Campbell in the 7th makes sense. 2. You only had five picks to address 10,000,000 positions. This is the situation where you have to work the Draft's depth and lack of depth to your advantage. It's not deep at DE or WR, so if you had someone early that you could opt for, I'd go there -- which you did with Harvey. Starting-quality and potential studs at OT were located everywhere from the 3rd to the 5th. If you didn't see that as a need, so be it. I understand that 22 sacks isn't much, but Schaub was still getting killed behind that line. RTs were available in full throughout the Draft. And the Texans picked up Reeves to start, not to man down NCB. As you commented, they payed him a boatload. Now the Texans could still use some depth there and eventual replacements as well, but it was not a prime need and I feel like it could have been addressed much later or in UDFA. But all told -- you had the hardest team to Draft for, as they are strapped for needs and with very few picks to fill them out. Compared to you, Mecca's job was cake. |

Buffalo Bills - A- (Direckshun/sfeihc/OnTheWarpath58/ChiefsCountry)
1. CB Mike Jenkins 2. TE Fred Davis 3. WR Earl Bennett 4. C Steve Justice 6. MLB Spencer Lawson 7. OLB Bryan Kehl 7. OG Donald Thomas 7. RB Xavier Omon The Bills are a fairly tricky team to Draft for -- they are a vastly talented and already very young team that has seen their stock soar over the past year. They are easily a top contender for a Wild Card spot this upcoming season, and this Draft will largely help them if it falls this way. Virtually every pick was at a position of need while also taking value into consideration. The Bills need some help in the interior, and it's nothing that the one-two combo of Justice and Thomas shouldn't be able to rectify. Their thinning CB corps may be saved by Mike Jenkins. Edwards will finally have a wider arsenal of options with Earl Bennett and Fred Davis providing some toughness across the middle to alleviate the pressure on Lee Evans. While I'm not as high on Davis as others are (I wouldn't have picked him that soon), and I believe Kehl will be available in UDFA and wasn't worth a selection, I believe the Bills are vastly improved. Dierck, you say Kehl wasnt worth the pick in the 7th? You had him in your top ten left at the start of the 7th.

Arizona Cardinals - B- (Archie Bunker)
1. RB Rashard Mendenhall 2. CB Tracy Porter 3. OG Drew Radovich 4. OLB Darrell Robertson 5. WR Will Franklin 6. FS David Roach 7. OLB Tommy Blake When you have yourself a franchise QB, albeit even one with the questions of Matt Leinart, you gotta give him a chance. You can't have two receivers and call it a day -- you need a stronger OL, you need some help receiving, and you need a better run game. The Cardinals mostly delivered on that with this Draft, as Archie Bunker apparently noticed that the Cardinals are trying to fix their defense through FA. He took a gigantic leap forward by drafting Rashard Mendenhall with their first. Among the more brilliant picks in the Draft, I could not be higher on a player in the Draft than him. After that, their Draft is a lot less sexy. Radovich should help but he was a reach by at least a round. Will Franklin was also a bit of a reach, unsurprising for a Missouri player on this board. The Cards tossed in bookend OLBs with Robertson and Blake, both value picks that will help them in the long run. All in all the Draft was helpful if unremarkable outside of their first selection. |

New York Jets - A- (PHOG/milkman)
1. RB Darren McFadden 2. WR Devin Thomas 4. WR Donnie Avery 4. CB Trae Williams 6. QB Kevin O'Connell 7. SS DJ Wolfe Darren McFadden fits with no team in the Top Ten better than the New York Jets, a team in dire need of some dynamic talent at its skill positions. The Jets did a fabulous job with their first three picks of fixing that unfortunate situation with three players that should bring a lot of flair to the NFL: McFadden, Thomas (a steal in the 2nd), and Avery. All three make this Jets team a lot more entertaining than they were before. Trae Williams at corner and DJ Wolfe at safety will be needed tools, if Drafted a little late, as the Jets stare down the Patriots twice a year, and their secondary was thin to begin with. The odd pick here is O'Connell, with Clemens their hopeful QBotF and Pennington a reliable vet at backup. They already have a couple suitors for 3rd string, too, so I'm not sure what this pick was all about, but it's a chink in an otherwise great Draft. |

Mike Greenberg of Mike and Mike in the Morning, a big Jets fan who has access to people in the organization, says that the Jets aren't convinced that Clemons is the QBoTF (which inpart explains why he and Pennington will go into camp competing for the position), and the Jets would like to come out of this draft with a QB who may be able to compete with Clemons in a couple of years if he isn't the guy. He (Greenburg) suggested just last week that the Jets may be interested in drafting Matt Ryan.
