****Official 2008 CP Mock Draft Picks Thread****

The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Yeah. He was #3. I'm sure you're loving UW's fall from grace in the world of Pac 10 football. We got a good class coming in this year. I hope Ty gets a chance to make this work. Well, I have sure enjoy beating them regularly. However, since I live in Washington state, I do cheer the Huskies and Cougars when it doesn't affect the Beavers. My youngest son is actually turning into quite the U Dub fan, so I end up watching them a few times a year.

I was pretty disappointed with the thug mentality that cropped up last year when they were at Corvallis. I hope Ty isn't encouraging that.

Jacksonville Jaguars - A (pestilenceaf23)

The Jaguars had one of the most complete Drafts of anybody in the NFL this year. This one rivals the Saints and the Titans for making the most of the Draft's depth and of their needs vs. picks. All the picks above are great value with the maybe-exception of Morgan in the second, and all position the Jags to be one of the best teams in the NFL and a Super Bowl contender for sure.

Really the only complaint is that they were unable to pick up a WR, but where would they with value this strong? (Maybe in the second, but there wasn't anybody of great value there at WR.) Jackson in the second will add more power to their DL, and Bryant in the 3rd was exactly what they needed. Molden and Scandrick with Morgan should give their secondary some youth and athleticism needed to compete with the Colts, and Scandrick even helps them return kicks. And that doesn't even include Josh Johnson, one of my favorites and a potential sleeper.

I wasn't crazy about this Draft, but it wasn't noa's or Mecca's fault. All four picks were fair value, but they are completely strapped for youth thanks to their free-wheeling deals. They can afford to pick up players and trade away picks, but that doesn't make this Draft any more enticing. Otah is a steal at the bottom of the 1st, and the rest of the picks are fair value. It's just hard to get excited over three low-rounders and an offensive lineman.

The Cowboys started this entire Draft off with a bang with their first two picks. Williams ensures the Cowboys will have a solid LT for the next decade with or without Flozelle Adams. The combination of corners in this Draft is odd, both Talib and Lowery have serious speed issues that won't work well in the Dallas system, but Talib was good value at his pick. The addition of Pacman Jones negates it, but there was no way to know at the time. Charles and Royal were both great additions to the skill positions of the Cowboys' already stellar offense, and add youth and legs where its badly needed.

But their Draft fizzled out around the second day, primarily because the two GMs for the Cowboys had significantly differing views on what the Cowboys needed. The second day saw OnTheWarpath perhaps reaching for positions to compensate for what he saw as htis' failures to address backup QB, S, and CB depth. I wasn't thrilled with their second day, and that's pretty much a necessary evil when we do this kind of Draft format.

Indianapolis Colts - C+ (BTAU/OnTheWarpath58)

I strongly disliked the Colts' first day, but they rectified some of it with a strong second day. The acquisition of Trevor Laws and Geno Hayes was extremely disappointing for a team that incredibly lacks depth at DE and WR, to the point where the Colts had to break with their formula and pick up replacements in free agency last year. To say nothing of the fact that both picks were sorry reaches.

Robinson in the 6th round and Jones in the 4th take steps to solve this oversight from the first day. Robinson has the ceiling to be a playmaker, and behind Harrison, Wayne, and that white rookie guy he should have a season to grow. Jones is a wild card, nobody knows exactly what he's capable of, and a 4th is a good gamble. McDuffie and Booty also address depth needs at the appropriate places, upgrading this Draft from a potential disaster to a mere disappointment.

Green Bay Packers - B (crazycoffey/pestilenceaf23)

The Packers' Draft was unconventional, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was bad. Chad Henne in the 2nd round is not the deathknell many in this thread had made it out to be. We only know so much about Aaron Rogers, and we definitely know he's got virtually nothing behind him on the depth chart. Henne is a great prospect for the brilliant QB minds in Green Bay to work on, and he's NFL ready enough to step on the field in case Rogers misses games. I make no excuses for their picking of Ali Highsmith in the 2nd, though. What the hell.

They also did a surprisingly sturdy job doing what the Chiefs should have done some time ago and provide the team with two great CB prospects; one for the immediate future (Smith) and one for a little down the road (Ikegwuono). They finally, finally snatch the TE heir apparent to Bubba Franks that it seems they've needed for three years now, and Powell is a fair choice in the 7th to boost up their depth. It's not a great Draft, but it is a solid Draft, and they deserve credit for it.

New England Patriots - B (Marco Polo/Mr Flopnuts)

For what it's worth, there isn't much wrong you can do when it comes to drafting for the Patriots. This team has a handful of holes that they could fill in a number of ways, so if there's a userproof team out there when Draft time rolls around, it's New England. If there's a team that can reach for need and get away with it, it's the Patriots.

So while I didn't like their 6th or 7th round picks at all, they can get away with it. While I think Jackson and Abidi are a bit overvalued by New England, they can get away with it. But I don't think you can fault them for taking the #1 highest rated player on the board at least three times their pick was up: Long in the 1st, Crable in the 3rd, and Slaton in the 4th. All three picks were brilliant additions to a very complete team, and with Crable and Abidi coming off the edges the Patriots will probably remain a formidable team.

Kansas City Chiefs - B (Mecca)

This wasn't exactly Panthers-level unconventional, but it was a fairly nonstandard Draft by the Chiefs in this mock. I can easily say the Chiefs are better off with it. They have a new powerful DL (the Jared Allen trade occurred after the mock was over), a great change-of-pace back to LJ, and a couple great late-round selections that could help boost this team's OL in a hurry, including Stevens as a great blocking TE.

My complaints now that I analyze this muted version of what the Chiefs' options will be are their pair of CBs and WRs. Simpson has great numbers but his production at one of the smaller school (of which I am historically a skeptic) were low. Bess is the other way around -- he's got incredible production numbers that rival any WR in this Draft, but his numbers are sorry. I would have made other WR selections over the course of this Draft. Likewise, Justin King is promising, but he's been consistently inconsistent and hopefully Herm will be able to sort those issues out. But as always with the Chiefs, who ****ing knows.

Draft day is finally here. I'd just like to take the time again to thank everyone involved in the Chiefs Planet 2008 Seven Round Mock Draft. It was a great experience that helped me learn about players throughout the entire draft. Which just happens to coincide with the year where the Chiefs FINALLY will be major players in the NFL Draft.

Yeah, right. Because Lord knows the pieces of Crap OLineman Carl has picked in the late rounds the last few years have all had a huge impact. Get real.
