And now for the pick the whole world's been waiting for. My plan was to target a receiver to help out struggling QB Vince Young. I was hoping somehow Sweed or Kelly would fall, but it didn't happen. I could take DeSean Jackson, Devin Thomas, or James Hardy, but I'm not really in love with any of them in the first round.
So without further delay the Tennessee Titans select Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon. Thumb tack quack attack! The Titans have a pretty strong rushing game, but none of their backs are all that great. LenDale had a 1000 yard season, but only 3.7 ypc. Stewart is great value this late and will allow us to get rid of disgruntled and oft-injured backup Chris Brown. |

Warpath and everyone else I just wanted to say sorry for causing the hold up. I got sent to Las Vegas for my job at the last minute. I thought I might be able to get in my pick but honestly couldn't get on a computer long enough to make the pick and haven't been on a computer since my last log in till tonight.
Direckshun thanks for picking up for me since I dropped the ball, and nice pick with Jenkins. Jenkins would have been my choice as well since Cromartie was already off the board. Good luck with the rest of the picks. |

Well, with Shaun Alexander turning into teh suck who is slow, afraid to get hit and falls down when breathed upon, the Seahawks are in need of help in the backfield. Jonathan Stewart would have been excellent value here, but the combination of him going the pick prior to the Titans and the overnight signing of Julius Jones allow the Seahawks to wait and grab a RB later in this "bottom of the ocean deep" RB class.
The Seahawks also need help with their interior offensive line. Guard is a need and we give Pittsburgh and Milkman the middle finger salute for nabbing Brandon Albert, by far the top guard. First you steal a Super Bowl from us and now you take our draft pick. **** you!! Other needs for the Seahawks include TE, help in the secondary, and WR. I don't like any of the TEs at this draft spot and we feel that Marcus Trufant will be locked up long-term. Bobby Engram is 35 years old, DJ Hackett was a disappointment and is a free agent, and we're not sure when or how Deion Branch will recover from a postseason ACL tear. With only two WRs off the board we feel that we can get great value at a position of need at WR. DeSean Jackson is fast, highly rated, but extremely small. Devin Thomas has the size and speed, but only produced for one year at Michigan St. Early Doucet is a solid prospect with the most experience as a senior, but has battled injury problems of his own. James Hardy is another possibility with excellent size and good speed. In the end, the Seahawks have to go with the best value and a guy who can give them the most production. With the 25th pick the Seattle Seahawks select WR DeSean Jackson, Cal. This guy is arguably the most explosive player in the draft who can take it to the house at any time from anywhere on the field. He's a more polished WR than Ted Ginn was last year and a better return man. Think Devin Hester who can actually be a solid contributer at WR. For concerns about his size we point you in the direction of Steve Smith.

The Steelers have already lost Faneca to free agency, and could potentially lose Max Starks and Chris Kemoeatu, who could probably have stepped into Fanaca's spot on the line, as well. Brandon Albert is big, strong, and showed at the combine that he's athletic and agile. He could easily start in Faneca's spot, and with his athleticism, could probably be looked at as a replacement for Max Starks at RT.

This has actually been a pretty good draft. I could conceivably see all of the teams making these picks (the only outlandish occurence I believe was Jake Long dropping to #7).
When you think about it there are about 6-7 reaches in the first round every year anyway so this is probably one of the best and most realistic mocks I've been involved in so far. |

What I find more surprising is that there are 3 CBs selected in the top 11 picks. Despite the depth there. Also Im not dissing the pick because I think he will be a good player but the fact that Rodgers-Cromarty has soared last two months making it into the Top 10 is amazing. |

Seriously, Gholston over Long? The Chiefs PASSING on Long and taking Ellis? This is turning into the statement draft more than the reality draft. Shows you what a strong workout and or senior bowl can do for you. Havent seen Gholston considered a top 5 talent on anyones board let alone ahead of Chris Long. With need of 2 solid starting O-linemen (couple of backups too), a starting CB, starting #2 or #3 WR, and KR how can you pass on the consensus #1 OT (position of desperate need) for a guy who overall isnt ranked more than a couple of spots away in overall rankings higher or lower, is a position of luxury not need (comparitavely) and is considered by most as the #2 at his position? Your probably not getting a starting CB past the 2nd, but now you have to pick OL the next 2 rounds and hope they pan out then look to the 4th-5th rounds for a CB ready to attempt starting this year not to mention WR. Guess what I'm saying is...I dont agree...

Also, I've seen boards that have Gholston as a top 5 pick, so it's hardly unjustified. And what are you gonna do if it shakes down like this and that's what the Chiefs actually do? |

Gholston wouldn't be a DE to Miamis scheme he'd be a OLB like DeMarcus Ware something more more valuable...

I'm sure the Jags would like one of top 3 DEs to fall to them but it's more than likely not going to happen. Their DEs are either old, FAs or coming off of injuries. I would have thought to go with a WR at this pick but after the signing of Porter and the trade for Williamson, the Jags really don't need to reach for a WR in the 1st round. So instead they'll reach for a DE.
With the 26th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft...the Jacksonville Jaguars select Lawrence Jackson DE USC. The Jags have a choice of three DEs at this point. It came down to Lawrence Jackson, Quentin Groves and Calais Campbell. Groves is really suited for a 3-4 OLB so he wouldn't fit into the Jags plans. Campbell has a little bit more upside but I feel that Jackson is the more all-around DE that the Jags could use. Plus it doesn't hurt that Coach Del Rio is from USC. |
