****Official 2008 CP Mock Draft Picks Thread****

The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

No. I love Ellis. I'm not sure I'd take him over Long, but I sure wouldn't argue against it. I may have taken Patrick Lee in the 2nd round, but I think you got BPA and I'll never argue against that.

People have to remember that the same knocks you have on Brohm you have to multiply for Flacco. He plays in a pass happy system that favors flashy stats, and he did it against much worse competition than Brohm did. I don't think Flacco saw an NFL talent in the opposing secondary at all during his career. He's a major project and it'll take him two years of clipboard-holding to test him out.

That said, he is physically prime. Great size, ideal size, and a fantastic arm. Seems to be a quality character who works hard, but he's not going to command a locker room for a long time.

I considered Flowers. I took McKelvin in the 1st round though, and really felt I needed to address a need. I don't think Flacco was a bad pick, but I thought I'd get more hell over not taking the LB's that are still on the board.

Well I think you'd find two starters on day 2 for the Chiefs maybe, but I don't know if any OT you select on day 2 is going to be a prime RT in the NFL. I'm not thrilled by the later day prospects, and personally I don't think the OT class is as deep as many people make it out to be.

Now, inner positions on the OL? Sure. No sweat. But finding an adequate RT on the second day... well, I'll reserve judgment until we finally get there.

I'd also like to add I didn't take a CB here because the 2 guys I like most for playing in our defense will likely still be available come next round maybe even the round after that.

Well I can tell you this much, I don't think CB will be as big of a need with the DL you're building.

The cool thing about DL is that the stronger you make it, the more leeway you have with the rest of your defense. I don't think the Giants' secondary is anything remarkable but they look amazing behind a strong front seven. The logic is impregnable: build the DL, and your defense will get better with it. So I think Ellis + Groves relaxes our urgency at CB.

Plus as I continue to watch a couple CBs drop, I'm convinced that we're going to see some amazing talent drop deep into the second day. CB and RB are two positions where I think you're going to find amazing talent deep into the second day.

It was him or Flacco. I went QB honestly thinking "Kyle Boller pick" the whole time. Flacco could be ready in a year though, and he has all the attributes. I think he's gonna be a good qb in this league.

Eh, you're seeing something I'm not seeing.

Delaware's shotgun offense and the defenses Flacco has seen are so insanely different from the shit he'll see in the NFL, I think it's going to take two years of strong coaching to get him there.

Hell I think ready-made QBs still need a year. Project QBs with upside like Flacco need a much longer time.

Yes, but the Giants are not the Chiefs. They can score points, they have CB's who can take advantage of the opportunities afforded by a great pass rush. Your pick of Ellis has already helped Hali and the rest of the D exponentially, so why not a CB, or a WR to help Croyle? I understand that the OL may not be value here, but there are plenty of playmakers who are just as good if not better who will see more of the field than Groves. IMHO

I agree 100% I was looking down the draft board and saw some good names aswell. My thinking is either LT in the first two or RT later on. And there isnt anyone good enough in round 2 to ancor this defence.

I had Groves at the top of my Draft board when you were picking and if you go with the board (atleast mine) its the right pick.
