The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

When making your selection, please list the player's name, his position and the school he played for. Not everyone has the same level of knowledge about prospects, and this information will help people who want to research these players further.

Also, if you would, please tell us your reasoning for selecting the player you did. It doesn't have to be a novel, just give some insight on your thought process.

Let's have some fun.

Groves faced 300+ OTs his entire career at Auburn, and put up great numbers his entire time. He's very strong for a DE (he's 260, by the way), and has insane quickness that will plague any OT that doesn't have elite footwork.
I meant LB in a 3-4. I'm just saying he's small for a DE and tended to wear down late in games constantly handling much larger blockers. Again, great player, just not the best fit. Especially if we go D in the first having had the 31st offense in the league and relying on the draft to make improvements. Ellis and Allen will give us an incredible pass rush. We have no CB's to speak of so we would still be succeptable to short quick passes to negate the pass rush.

Well size is size. It helps but blocking is technique, and it's not particularly easy to get low when you're 6'7" and "only" 260 lbs. I looked up a couple pictures of the guy, and I do see a little bit of weight he could add, I mean he doesn't look maxed or anything.

I think he could be a good blocker at the size he's at now, without adding any weight. But his current height/weight is going to require a bit of technique coaching.

Still, interesting perspective. I hadn't even paid much attention to the guy other than the one game.

Sounds to me like Groves would be an amazing player if only we could work him into a rotation with two other good DEs.

Strengths:
Excellent size with long arms and a huge frame...Outstanding athleticism...Has big reliable hands and can pluck the ball away from his body...Real tough, strong and physical...Terrific ball skills and body control...Decent route runner..Above average blocker with the potential to get even better..Probably has a considerable upside.

Weaknesses:
Lacks elite timed speed...Not real quick or explosive...Not a vertical threat who will stretch the field...Could stand to bulk up...Needs to get stronger...Is still raw from a technique standpoint...Not very elusive and won't do much after the catch...May still be a tad bit immature...Does he truly love the game and is he dedicated to it?

Notes:
Is also an outstanding basketball player who saw action on the hardwood for the Aggies...Actually entered the NBA Draft out of high school before withdrawing his name...Gave up basketball in January 2007 to focus on football..Was underutilized in the Aggies run-orientated offense..Talented player with a unique set of physical tools who could be a very good all-around tight end at the next level...The type of prospect who could turn out to be even better in the pros than he was in college.

So Mecca,

Im guessing with your comments you are interested in CB next round. If the draft came out like you have put it, with the CB you want in the 3rd round.

How many wins do you see the chiefs having and if Herm was listening to you as his head scout. Do you think he would get fired after next season (based on that number of wins). We're gonna have a smashing Defense but our O is gonna suck bad. Now Im all for rebuild and sucking bad 1-2 more years but could Herm really risk it seeing as where his career is at?

So Mecca, you don't like this WR class but how do you feel about Jerome Simpson? I'm itrigued by this guy because of long arms and huge hands. He had decent production in college and he had a decent week at the E. W. Shrine game(I think that was the one). Do you have any thoughts of what round he might go in?

So Mecca,

Well tell you what, if you're going to get an elite TE you do it when we still have Tony G. Guy won't have a much better tutor than that.

Sounds like an interesting prospect -- especially since he played some basketball too. Really, sounds a bit like Tony Gonzalez.

I don't think I'd get fired cause my players would be fine...it's gonna take 3-4 years though.

I'll just say this:

The one QB I'd like to see the Chiefs draft this year would be Josh Johnson in round 4 or 5.

I think they like Allan. Herm talked him up a little on NFL Network during the combine. Of course, Herm talks up most anyone. But he was talking hypothetically about drafting a TE, and said Gailey likes to use two TE sets and referred to Tony and Allan. Might be reading too much in, but I got the impression he's already pencilled in unless they draft somebody in the upper rounds. Mainly, though, Herm was talking about finding a blocking TE to replace Dunn from what I saw. I think he and Mayock were high on some kid from Cal Berkeley. Or Mayock was, at least.

But the big thing is that when Turley went on IR a few weeks before the final game, they brought Allan up to the main roster despite having no need for another TE. There's really no other reason to do that except to keep another team from swiping him off the practice squad, so they must like him a little.

Yeah Mayock loves Stevens, from Cal. Good blocker reportedly, but I haven't seen him in action.

Hey, I'm thrilled Herm brought up Allan. I just got the impression that they threw him on the Ps all year because they truly weren't pleased with his progress -- I also remember the TE coach in Hard Knocks (yeah, I know) saying he didn't like how Allan practiced, which seemed asinine to me because Allan was the only TE taking reps throughout all of training camp.

Allan has shown great hands in the limited preseason time he got. He's shown good route-running and he's made the tough catch. I think he's a good role player, maybe even an eventual starter a few years down the road. But the way the Chiefs treated him last year concerned me.

But glad to hear Herm talking him up. Herm doesn't just talk up anybody, and when he namechecks somebody usually it's deliberate. So it's good to hear.

Honestly, if we're going to draft a QB, it's got to be in the earliest of the early rounds. It'd have to be somebody who'd push immediately against Croyle for that starting job. Because we already have a late round pick slotted to eventually be Croyle's longterm backup QB in Thigpen, and I haven't seen anything from Johnson to suggest he's anything but a solid backup in the NFL.

But eh. I've been wrong before. I do think that if a team is looking to gamble on a QB in the midrounds, Johnson's a solid option.

I'm here. Just need a little time to re-group, all my top players that were left were taken while I wasn't looking. I'll have something this morning.

Really wanted to go OL here, but Baker and Nicks were gone and I have to believe the 49ers can pick something up in the later rounds. With that in mind, with the 39th pick in the draft, the San Fransisco 49ers select Calais Campbell, DE from Miami
Campbell probably really should have stayed another year and established himself as the dominant DE in college, at 6'8" 280 lbs. he has that kind of athleticism and potential. He sort of just went through the motions in his junior campaign, but maybe Justin Smith can light a fire under him and create a really scary defensive line for the 49ers.
