Mecca,
I have a couple of questions for you, and only time to ask one of them right now. I will have time this afternoon to ask the other one. Last season we carried 8 D-linemen on our active roster. Allen, Boone, Edwards, and Hali were the starters. McBride, Tyler, Wilkerson, and Reed were the backups. On any given Sunday we only suited up 7 for the games (there were a limited few where we suited up 8). And as far as I know, only Wilkerson and Reed have been omited from the roster. If this is correct, and we still have... Allen, Boone, Edwards, Hali, Turk, and Tank ... and we are going to add Ellis and Groves to field our roster of 8 active players. And one of those is going to be inactive on Sundays. Now I like both of the players you have selected. But how is adding 2 more players with our top two picks to what is arguably the best unit on our team already make us that much stronger? And I throw in arguably because I am assuming Tank and Turk vie for starting positions and Edwards and Boone rotate in with them this season. |

Don't have time for a write-up, getting ready to get on the road.
The BPA on my board again fits a huge need for the Saints. With the 40th pick, the New Orleans Saints select Pat Sims, DT, Auburn. |

The Buffalo Bills are on the clock
In the first round the Bills need for depth at cornerback was addressed. That leaves two glaring needs on the Bills roster, a bigger, physical receiver to compliment Lee Evans and a quality receiving threat at tight end.
So without further ado, the Buffalo Bills select from the crib via USC, tight end Fred Davis. Hope you enjoyed those years in SC Fred, because it's back to the Great Lakes and snow and ice for you, my friend. |

It makes us better because it's the Dline, being the Chiefs best unit isn't good enough the team is bad. The idea is you make it the best unit in the league and then all of the sudden the D is good because having a great Dline will mask everything else on the defense until you get those players. Built front to back... |

I really didn't like bsp4444's pick for the 49ers. Part of it is because I believe they have a whole lot of great players left on the board at a lot of different positions they could use rather than Campbell. The 49ers are happy with Justin Smith for their end and would probably want to go OLB or even try another WR.
The rest of the reason is that I believe Campbell has dropped down yet another round. Maybe the bottom of the second if he's lucky, but he looks like a third rounder to me. He showed up to the Combine horrendously slow, even for a 3-4 lineman, and grossly overweight. The guy better have a fire lit under his ass otherwise you'd wasted a 2nd rounder. Early Doucet is on the board still, and would be a pretty good combo with James Hardy. You'd have a pair of above average guys that could flourish as #1 and #2 compliments. That's probably what I would have considered for the 49ers, unorthodox as it may be. Also I believe the 49ers would take a hard look at OT Tony Hills for RT. Hills doesn't have the speed or athleticism to be a good LT, but they're moving Staley there. Instead, Hills is a pissed off ass kicker who'd be a solid-to-great RT depending on how well he transfers to the NFL. And I believe the biggest hole for the 49ers is actually at OLB. They resigned Roderick Green but he's just a guy -- there are a couple seriously good OLBs on the board at this point that could fit into the 49ers 3-4 scheme, most notably Michigan's Shawn Crable, who'd be fair value at this point. |

Are the 49ers using Lawson as their DE or OLB?

The last few picks were painful for the Broncos. The best value pass rusher, interior d-lineman, and a couple more of the top OTs, gone right before their eyes!
With huge needs left at DT, LB (inside or out), and OT, none of which seems good value, they again reach for need. While a couple inside LBs are tempting, one of which is an easy comparison to former Donk LB Al Wilson, they feel they can wait for LBs on Sunday. Denver selects OT Anthony Collins, Kansas. |

The absolute lowest Calais Campbell is going will be with the Vikings 2nd pick, there is no way he goes lower than that.
