I think they'll stay true to their board. They just signed him to an 8(?) year extension. What's he gonna do if they don't take a WR in round one? Hold out?

If the draft fell like this Hardy and then Rachal that would be a heck of draft for Pittsburgh IMO.

That's why I think they'll do it, he is their franchise guy, they'll try to give him what he asked for.

I think they'll try, but again, I don't think that they'll do at the expence of passing on someone that they think is a better player.

The Giants are very tempted to take a CB, specifically Charles Godfrey, to fill one of their biggest needs.
However, staying true to their board, they find it impossible to pass on Erin Henderson at this point in the draft. Having also selected Dan Connor the Giants will now replace Kawika AND move Kiwanuka to DE. |

How can you ever replace Kawika, though?
I mean, really. |

A bunch of the guys I've targeted for this pick have been taken so I'm kind of deciding on good value vs need vs depth....
Fun stuff I tell ya. |

The Dolphins have a glaring hole at cornerback next to Will Allen, who is a decent, but not a spectacular player. Given the fact that the Dolphins are in a division where they have to face Randy Moss and Wes Welker twice a year, a superb shutdown corner as well as a nickel corner who could jam the piss out of , and cover a slot receiver would be a nice addition. I believe that there is still good value for the latter later in the draft, but a top notch CB would really help with the Mosses of the world.
Justin King seems like an ideal guy, as he has blazing speed, and graduated college in less than three years, but he really struggles against larger wide receivers, and at least according to some scouts, has a long memory. If he plays in the AFC-E, he will get torched. I don’t know if that is a good combo. Charles Godfrey is another appetizing prospect, but strikes me as more of a workout warrior than a truly productive player on the field. I think he can be a very, very good corner, but I also think he has a high bust factor. If Chad Henne was still here, I’d be very tempted to take him, and we can’t justify using this pick on Andre Woodson, as it seems about 15-20 spots too high for him. Given Ronnie Brown’s injury, Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Matt Forte, and a few others were of interest, and a homerun hitter like Johnson could have made an interesting combo with Brown. Andre Caldwell is the consensus #1 receiver on the board, but there are other wideouts who we think can do similar things and compliment Ted Ginn a little better. The Dolphins lack a true red zone threat, Caldwell isn’t large enough to be one, and no TE’s are worth this pick. Yeremiah Bell was recently resigned, and can serve as a short term stopgap at FS. However, there is still a glaring hole for the Dolphins at SS. The Dolphins have fallen in love with their next pick. He projects as a rich man’s Bernard Pollard—a guy who is a special teams ace. However, he is lighter and quicker than Pollard, and as a result, could play either FS or SS depending on the package, but given his hitting and run support, he fits more as a SS who can also cover the opposing team’s tight end. He had 116 tackles last year and 6 blocked kicks in two years, proving that he can be and effective player in a big time conference. He can beat the piss out of people, which will help the Dolphins protect the middle of the field. If Gholston and Avril are able to cause hurried throws that sail over the middle, this motherfucker could have a collection of scalps like a crazed Mohican in three years With the 64th pick in the CP Mock draft, the Miami Dolphins select Thomas DeCoud, SS, California

Chris Johnson would be a great guy to team with LJ. He'd also fill the void for a return specialist and a 3rd down back.
Screw it, just pick Brennan, you know you want to.

If the Dolphins ran a 4-3, I would have drafted Gooden. That guy is a damned good player, but Parcells' insistence on his system is handcuffing me to an extent, but it also gives me a nice pick of tweeners. He's built like a Will. Johnson basically reminds me of a more athletic Dave Meggett. He'd be a terror on special teams and could probably be the 2nd best 3rd down back in the league after LT if he pans out. He's a great kick returner, and if you have a good O-coordinator, you can split him out wide and use him like we did Dante...only he's faster, bigger, and runs better routes. With that said, I think he's a horrible fit for the Chiefs because they don't use a cutback style or flex out their backs. I like Gooden more than Wheeler. They both have good range, but I think Gooden is a better fit for a C2 system because he is a little more fluid in coverage. Wheeler would be a great guy to send off the blind side though, probably a little bit more of a big play guy, but I think you'll get a better 70 snaps out of Gooden, especially with our system.

Gooden is pretty much a good fit for what we do, I consider him a poor mans Keith Rivers with his coverage type skills and all that...
Of course if I take him, I'm going to get bitched at because 'we have Edwards and just signed Williams" To bad since Gooden is a perfect cover 2 weakside backer......to be dead honest after next season Harris and Edwards should both be released put Gooden and Williams outside and put DJ in the middle, that makes the most sense to me to maximize players use in a cover 2. |
