****Official 2008 CP Mock Draft Picks Thread****

The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I think Avril and Gholston have the potential to be a great one-two punch, but Avril was going to be there in the third and I think you should have gone with someone else. I grade DeCoud as a reach at the top of the third, and I think most would agree with me.

Well, the thing is that I didn't have DeCoud as being below Morgan more than a few spots.

Now, he wasn't my BPA, that was Gooden, but I couldn't take him, he's just not a 3-4 player, and I have several RB's who I personally have valued higher than say C. Johnson...

Ultimately I passed on Godfrey and King because I see both as busts. There are other guys in the draft with the same tools who have better mental makeups to me, IMO.

The draft is the ultimate game of poker in that you know your own board, but you have to guess that of others in order to truly maximize your picks. That's why I took Nicks over Avril, because I had him above Groves, but knew he'd be there later in the second, even though it was a position of need.

Avril, to me, is Groves with a better motor, and DeCoud fills multiple needs at a position of value, and I've seen him go as high as mid-second in some mocks (and as low as mid-fourth in others).

A lot of times what I see in this mock are people just going to NFLDC, looking at triangle numbers and saying "Oh, well he's a good pick, so I'll take him."

Well, yeah, but it has to be that way. You can't expect 30-some different guys on an internet board to be knowledgable enough to competently play GM. Most of the guys here probably haven't seen some of their picks play, they're just living by NFLDC or whatever.

I've been lucky enough to have a lot of access to stuff in order to see most if not all of the major picks in action, but I too lean on some drafting websites that I've found share the same opinions as me, especially when it comes to smaller schools and later rounds. I think a lot of us probably do.

everyone is saying bad pick

he has speed and I vison him being kr pr first eventually 3rd down and then who knows. No one was sure about maurice jones drew as an everydown back so you never know.

I hate to do this direkshun but what do you do you think my draft here so far? or wait till after this next pick.

I've been lucky enough to have a lot of access to stuff in order to see most if not all of the major picks in action, but I too lean on some drafting websites that I've found share the same opinions as me, especially when it comes to smaller schools and later rounds. I think a lot of us probably do.

This pick was the hardest so far with good players available at many positions of need for the 49ers. In the end, I went with who I thought was the highest ranked at a position of need. The 49ers select Tavares Gooden ILB from University of Miami. Gooden has experience at all three LB positions and really put on a show at the Miami Pro Day. I think Red Bryant, or Tony Hills would also have been a good value at this pick , but in the end I felt this gave the 49ers the most bang for their buck.

I think that's a good pick, bsp. I think you've got one of the best young LBs in the league in Willis, and building around him is a great call.

I think we all know the certain people and certain picks I was referring to. I really doubt more than five of us have seen Leodis McKelvin in action, for example.

I've seen Cottam play for Tennessee and I really liked him in the Senior Bowl, too. I just don't think he was R2 material, but that's me. Jackson I watched a couple times and was underwhelmed, but truth be told he was playing against some pretty tough defenses.

Well I expressed to you in the first round that I disliked the Brohm pick. I don't think Brohm translates well to the NFL, I don't doubt that he can be a competent QB in the NFL but if you're drafting QB in the first, you better hope he becomes Pro Bowl caliber and I don't see Brohm becoming that in the NFL. But I've felt that we've already had that discussion. A LT would have been a much better pick there, particularly Ryan Clady.

I thought your second rounder on Mayo was much better. I still would have gone Lofton but I'm about 50/50 on that. Both will do well in the NFL, and Mayo was a solid pick that filled a newly arisen need for the Panthers.

I'm with most of the folks here that believe Johnson was an iffy pick. Johnson has a hell of a lot of promise, but he's largely unproven and considering that he's the same sort of back that Williams is, I don't think he'd be worth it for the Panthers in the 3rd. Johnson can return kicks, though, so it's possible he'll pay off.

But who else would I have drafted in the third, then? Well, we had a conversation about Dre Moore not too long ago, and I felt he was the much better choice. You changed your mind at the 11th hour, I'm not sure why, and opted for Johnson. But the Panthers have a sterling reputation with developing DTs, and Moore would have flourished in Carolina.

hmm direckshun chris johnson was way too talented too pass up at this point he is rated a low 2nd or early third. however after he ran the 4.24 40 people say he may go late 1st early 2nd now. just too good to pass up. Now williams is the same back true and i knew some would blast me but as I said. He is my kr punt returner he is awesome at that . I watched video on him and got excited watching how quick he was to the outside. He adds a different element.

As much as me and mecca are arguing i'm not impressed with the OL left I feel I could get one in the forth or fifth round. I'm not done yet I still have some guys on my board rated pretty damn high that are still available.

hopefully we'll do a whole 7 rds then you can see my strategy. So far I've taken the ozzie newsome way of thinking best available no matter what position..

The 49ers also have Manny Lawson. They would have one of the best starting LBing corps in the game. Good pick. Gooden's stock dropped because of injury, not talent.

Wheeler is a better pick than Gooden for a team like the 49ers that play 3-4.....I'm honestly not sure how he fits into that defense.

I can see OTW reaching for Paul Hubbard here, a big possession WR with 4.4 speed.

All of the best centers in the Draft are still on the board, though, and if you ask me that'd be the better pick for Buffalo. Of course, two pretty darn good DEs are still on the board and the Bills need a better pass rush.
