Sanka's got less than two hours.
He's missed his previous one for the Bears, too. Grrr. There needs to be a Three Strikes You're Out penalty, dammit. Who's his pick going to be if he flakes? Anybody want it? Is my Aldridge pick too much of a reach for the rest of you? |

This is one of those moderate gains in power that'd drive a man mad. Mad, I tell you!
Since we're pretty much just sitting on our ass for the next two hours, anyone willing to chime in for the Titans is welcome to do so. They've selected Jon Stewart, Mario Manningham, Chris Ellis, and Bruce Davis. They still need some WRs, some interior OL help, CBs, and a KR/PR. Thoughts appreciated. I'll be weighing in a little after 9:30 if Sanka doesn't show and I'll be pissed. |

Well the Titans can go a couple places here. They can go the eccentric route and gamble on Aldridge, but that'd be a reach. They signed Carr anyway so they don't see a need for Aldridge.
They can go pure value and pick up QB Dennis Dixon, who projects to be a fairly good backup in the NFL and hell, he has the exact same skillset as Vince Young so the Tits won't have to change up their gameplan. Dwight Lowery is not worth the gamble for the Titans' defense. Lowery at this point projects to little more than a Cover 2 corner considering his performance at the combine. But they are sincerely interested in Boise State's CB Orlando Scandrick. Cody Wallace warrants some consideration, but the Titans have solid depth at center. So the Titans instead turn to a desperate situation for their defense: they absolutely seriously need a pass rush. They're getting it from Vander Boch or whatever his name is, they're going to get a little from the overrated Chris Ellis, so at this point they're going to survey the landscape and see who the most prolific sack-getter left is, and if it's good value, they'll bite. Vanden Bosch and Ellis will be their lunch pail guys; they need a guy who can get to the QB in obvious pass situations. DE/OLB Jeremy Thompson, Wake Forest (would project to DE) -- Thompson has been a physical blessing that's underachieved for his entire career, built with an incredible body tailor-made for chasing quarterbacks, but he didn't really fulfill that potential until his senior year, registering 7 sacks. Lots of upside, he's promising. Good value. DE Brian Johnston, Gardner-Webb -- Johnston is from a much smaller school and is raw as hell, but he projects to be more of a Jimmy Wilkerson, run-stopping DE lunchpail guy. He'd be okay value at this point, but he's not a good pass rusher. Not a fit. "Eh" value. DE Kenny Iwebema, Iowa -- Iwebema is another strong-armed run-stopper at DE. He's hit his roof at this point, though, and the Titans are looking for a guy with some more upside. Reach. Everybody else is a vast overreach for what the Titans want. The decision's pretty easy, and while Thompson may evolve into a pass rush specialist, he also has the body to carry the lunchpail and get a lot done for this team. With the 149th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans select DE Jeremy Thompson, from Wake Forest University. |

With Shaun Alexander's expected release, the Seattle Seahawks are left with only Maurice Morris and newly signed Julius Jones in the backfield. That's nothing to write home about. The Seahawks would have loved for Kevin Smith or Tashard Choice to fall to them, but both are off the board. Of the remaining backs, the Seahawks don't feel that any of them are great value here and that they can pick one up later on.
The Seahawks also are looking to add depth to the offensive line. Walter Jones is no spring chicken and a project LT that can be groomed behind big Walter is desireable. Again, the Seahawks aren't crazy about the value here. If they're not going offensive line or RB here, how else can Seattle improve its run game? Mack Strong retired during the 2007 season due to a neck injury. He was a staple of the Seattle running game for nearly 14 years, blocking for 3 separate 1000 yard rushers (Chris Warren, Ricky Watters and Shaun Alexander). With, arguably, the best FB in the draft still available at the bottom of the 5th round, the Seahawks can fill a need AND get great value with a guy who can contribute immediately, fits in well with the west coast offense, and who has already blocked for a couple of outstanding running backs in college. With the 150th pick, the Seattle Seahawks select FB Peyton Hillis, Arkansas.

Damn....Jeremy Thompson is gone. This is going to take me a minute to rebound and look over my board. I'll have my pick up in the next couple of hours.

Jeremy Thompson would have been nice if he had fallen to the Jags with this pick...but it didn't work out that way. The problem with drafting for the Jaguars is that they don't have a whole lot of holes to fill. If they wouldn't have grabbed Porter and Williamson for their WR core then I might look to grab one here but I'm afraid the rookie would never make it on the squad...even if it is filled with underachievers. Thompson would have given the Jags a nice pass rush but now that he's gone there really isn't anyone that can supply that at this point. I'd try and grab a running back here but there isn't anyone that stands out to me right now either.
The Jacksonville Jaguars select Orlando Scandrick, CB, Boise State I know I drafted Antwuan Molden with my 4th round pick and the Jaguars really don't have a HUGE need for CB but Scandrick should be able to fill in nicely and help against the pass happy Colts twice a year. Plus he should at least in his first year be a special teams standout. |

The Chargers only have a few positions they can use players at...with most of them having very little value at this pick...the Chargers take a player with starting talent at a position where they lack depth..
The Chargers select Jamar Adams SS Michigan... And Scandrick was my corner I was gonna take for the Chiefs so damn you! |
