****Official 2008 CP Mock Draft Picks Thread****

The following trades have effected the draft order:

Corey Williams to Cleveland for a R2 pick.

Shaun Rogers to Cleveland for a R3 pick.

Kris Jenkins to the Jets for a R3 pick.

Marcus Stroud to the Bills for a R3 pick.

Redskins to Broncos. The Washington Redskins traded their fourth-round selection in 2008, and their third-round selection in 2007 (used to select Ryan Harris) to the Denver Broncos as part of a three-team trade in which Washington received T.J. Duckett and Atlanta received Ashley Lelie. (This was the result of a formula which could have had Denver and Washington swapping 2007 first-round selections.)

Saints to Jets. The Saints traded their fourth-round selection in 2008 to the Jets, for Jonathan Vilma.

Jets to Panthers. The New York Jets traded their third-round and fifth-round selections to the Carolina Panthers in a deal that sent Kris Jenkins to New York.

Dolphins to Chiefs. Miami (conditionally) traded its fifth-round selection in 2008 to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for Trent Green. The selection would have become a fourth-round selection if Green had met certain performance criteria.

Bears to Bills. Chicago (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Buffalo in exchange for Darwin Walker. The round of the selection may change, depending on Walker's playing time.

Panthers to Bears. The Carolina Panthers traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Chicago in exchange for Chris Harris.

Raiders to Broncos. Oakland (conditionally) traded their fifth-round selection in 2008 to Denver in exchange for Gerard Warren.

Bills to Jaguars The Buffalo Bills traded a 3rd and 5th round selection to the Jacksonville Jaguars in return for DT Marcus Stroud.

Seahawks to Browns. The Seattle Seahawks traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Cleveland in exchange for Charlie Frye.[24]

Packers to Giants. The Green Bay Packers traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the New York Giants in exchange for running back Ryan Grant.

Broncos to Rams. Denver traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to the St. Louis Rams for defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy.[26] The trade occurred after the Broncos had tried to trade the same pick to Miami for defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson; that trade was voided.

Browns to Eagles. Cleveland traded their sixth-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for center Hank Fraley. The trade was conditional on games started by Fraley, and could have fallen to a seventh-round pick, but Fraley started all 16 games.

Cowboys/Dolphins swap. The teams swapped their sixth-round selections in a trade involving Jason Ferguson.

Jaguars to Vikings. Jacksonville traded their sixth-round selection for Troy Williamson.

Texans to Broncos. Houston traded their sixth-round pick for Chris Myers.

Steelers to Falcons. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Atlanta for kick/punt returner Allen Rossum.

Seahawks to Eagles. Seattle traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Philadelphia for fullback Josh Parry.

Eagles to Bills. Philadelphia traded their seventh-round selection in 2008, and defensive tackle Darwin Walker, to Buffalo for linebacker Takeo Spikes and quarterback Kelly Holcomb.

Rams to Vikings. St. Louis traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Minnesota for offensive tackle Adam Goldberg.

Giants to Chiefs. The New York Giants traded their seventh-round selection in 2008 to Kansas City for kicker Lawrence Tynes.

Vikings to Jets. Minnesota traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to the Jets in exchange for Brooks Bollinger.

Bengals to Rams. Cincinnati traded their seventh-round pick in 2008 to St. Louis in exchange for Ryan Fitzpatrick.

There is quite a bit of starting quality talent still left in this draft. The Texans have to wait a LONG time to get some more of it. The Broncos have the Texans 6th from the Chris Myers trade.

Since it looks like the mock will take a while, I wanted to go ahead and throw my analysis of my picks for the Rams out for everyone to critique and kick Carl's ass in the process.

Rams 2008 selections(so far)
1st pick-Glenn Dorsey-
I believe Dorsey is the best player in this year's draft. All the research I've done on him indicates he is totally healthy and a healthy Dorsey should help shore up the Rams average to weak D-line. Carriker and Dorsey could become the most dominant DT tandem in the game and for years to come. Carriker and Dorsey together would form the new wrecking crew. Dorsey's talent is too much to pass on.
(Projected as a Starter)

2nd pick, OT, Sam Baker-
While Baker isn't considered the cream of the crop of this year's draft, all he did was become a THREE-TIME ALL-AMERICAN at a big-time program. Last year's hamstring injury slowed Baker down some, but that is likely why he drops to the 2nd round.
At, 6'5" 309 lbs and the USC pedigree, Baker has some major upside and most likely will start from day one at RT, if Pace is healthy. (Projected as a Starter)

3rd Pick, WR, Andre Caldwell-
Caldwell's speed combined with his hands show as much promise as any of WRs in this year's class. Caldwell has the most receptions in Florida Gators history and showed he can come back from injury and still produce. I believe Caldwell is incredible value in the
3rd round. (Projected as the slot receiver)

4th pick, C, Mike Pollack-
Pollack is considered by many the best center in this year's draft class. To get the projected best player at his position and at a position of need is worthy of a 4th rounder. Pollack will definitely make the team and projects to become a future starter.

5th pick-RT Kirk Barton-
Considered the anchor for the Ohio State Buckeyes O-line, Barton is a great prospect. Barton has tremendous upside and will push for playing time in the near future. Barton allows the Baker transistion to LT to be a smoother process.(Back-up in 2008, starter in 2009 and beyond)

6th pick-CB/FS Michael Grant

Grant has serious speed. He runs a 4.37 40 yard dash. He's raw, but he's known for his hitting and catch-up speed. He played FS and then was moved to corner and helped improve Arkansas' secondary. He's considered to be a tough, underrated player who has good hands. The size, speed, and versatility seems like a major coup this far into the draft.


I've tried to stick to my board, but when your team sucks, it's easy to get players of value and fill voids. I've enjoyed the draft and appreciate being able to throw my two cents into the conversation. Thanks for all the cool posts and thanks to everybody for doing their part and making this happen-it's be fun.

You did a very nice job of getting talented players to fill the Rams needs. Maybe Baker slides in at G if Pace comes back strong?

The Jets have a couple of real scrubs behind Kellen Clemons and Chad Pennington at QB in Marcus Tuiasasopo and Brad Ratliff.

And Pennington may be on his way out, although it seems less likely the deeper into the offseason we go.

That being said there's a kid sitting here who has some developmental potential, and with patience could be a starter in this league in a few years, or at worst, a solid backup to Clemons.

With the 16nd pick, the Jets select QB Kevin O'Connell, San Diego St.

Thank you, I'll do my best. All told you had a great critique, but of course GMs are going to do nothing but brag about their own Drafts. I've never heard a GM say "well shit, I really reached everywhere, didn't I?"

I don't like Dorsey as your #1 pick. I believe he'll live up to it, and I do think he'll improve the Rams' DL, but the Rams have a fairly sturdy DT corps. I don't think Barton projects to tackle in the NFL, he's much more of a G prospect, but he can really play anywhere along the line, providing the Rams with immediate depth and an eventual starter. Pollack was a great pick, obviously, especially atop the 4th.

Caldwell I struggle with. I don't believe he was worth the pick but hey, that's on you. I can't blame you for the pick but I wouldn't have picked him up 'til a little later in the Draft. Especially if you think he's going to be your slot guy, because I've seen no evidence that he's tough enough or strong enough to consistently go across the middle. But he's a great athlete from a great school, so I don't disparage your pick too much.

I think I would have taken three or four other free safeties before gambling on Grant in the 6th. He's not an awful pick like the one CC made directly afterwards, but I would have gone elsewhere.

All in all, I 100% loved what you did with your team's OL. Everywhere else I waffle. Dorsey will make your team better but I would have gone elsewhere. Caldwell and Grant might have been premature.

I'd give it a C+, maybe a B-.

Actually I have O'Connell rated as 6th round value.

4 year captain with good measurables and a good arm. I think he has a high roof.

I am interested in watching these two qb's develop. They intrigue me as much as anyone in the draft because of what I've heard about them. I just haven't seen either one in action.

Thank you for the critique, obviously, we disagree a little, but it's all good. I think Dorsey allows Hall and Little to do their jobs better. I also tried to look at the draft as a long-term solution, not just about this year. With all the holes on the 2nd worst team in the NFL, I didn't expect to solidify every position. I think Dorsey is better than Chris Long, he won't have the sack numbers, but, he'll have just as much impact on pressuring the QB from the inside instead of the outside. I also see Dorsey helping solidify the Rams running game, too, something Chris Long won't be able to compete with Dorsey with. Edge goes to Dorsey. Brick wall, my friend, brick wall.
