If the league stepped in and...

...under some kind of social engineering project, allowed Herm Edwards to field 12 players on offense, defense, and special teams, could we make the playoffs?

And who would you add to each starting unit?

Poll to follow.

Actually, "bereth" should be "berth" in the first option. I don't want people to think that's some sort of Finnish word or something.

I think Herm could go 7-3 if he had a 12th man.

I would add Herb Taylor lining up directly behind Damion McIntosh on offense.

I would add Alphonso Boone at nose tackle on defense, lining up between Dorsey and Tank.

I would add Tamba Hali to all the coverage special teams, and Adrian Jones to all the return teams.

I'd have Dorsey as the kicker

Maybe we've found the problem:

EDWARDS: “Well, we have two young ones right now. If we decide to go with another one, that’d be three. Then we have two more, so that’s five.

Herm would be so flustrated by being penalized every down because he has 36 players on the field every down. The ref would try to explain he can only have 12 at one time, but Dumber just wouldn't be able to understand. The game would never end because of the penalties every down, and the NFL would just give up.

I've always been in favor of drafting Britton Colquitt as soon as possible... and I don't mean asap like the first round, I mean tomorrow.

A punter by committee is what this team needs... 12 players on the field means having at least one punter on the field at all times. Dustin can't do it all by himself, and at times the gameplan will require the brothers to be on the field at the same time.

I would have voted for that choice if I had not seen the Monday night game last night. Denver sucks so us beating them wasn't as big of a deal as we all want to think.

Look on the bright side, those 5 yard penalties are less than what we're currently giving up on the ground!

It might work if that extra player came from the other team and they had to play 10. Like this weekend, we could have Brett Favre QB both ways while they have to sit a safety. When our D is on the field, we ask their left tackle to switch sides and rush the QB - DON'T HURT THE QB THOUGH! We'll need him on our side in a few minutes.

Well if you follow the CFL, they normally use the standard American football set but add an extra WR and Safety.

You still have to execute with that extra man and Herm's teams don't execute under his tutelage. You could add 2 men to the Chiefs and they still wouldn't win many.

I assumed that they'd go 7-3, but then I realized that my extra player on offense did nothing but upgrade the Chiefs' right tackle position to "decent".
