My Chiefs Mock

Here are my picks for the Chiefs, this will be probally change bc of Trent Green deal but as of now:

1. Robert Meachem, WR Tennessee
I went with Meachem at this spot for a couple reasons. One I think he is whom the Chiefs are targeting as their WR and he would be BPA on the board. Jarrett is very tempting but with the Chiefs bringing Meachem in for a private workout is who I see them going for.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6675&s=1515199
Others Considered: Dwayne Jarrett, Aaron Ross, Ben Grubbs, Dwayne Bowe

2. Daymeion Hughes, CB California
With their second round pick, the Chiefs pick up the corner most suited for the cover 2. Hughes is perfect for it. I was very tempted at Arron Sears, the guard out of Tennessee, but I think value for lineman is better later on and the corners aren’t very good.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6452&s=1518421
Others Considered: Arron Sears, Eric Wright

3. Marshal Yanda, G/T Iowa
Actually here is the reason why I passed on Sears. Yanda has the potential to be the Chiefs starter this year at either right tackle or guard. Either way I think Yanda could be a darn good lineman for the team for years to come.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6514&s=1511487

5. Justin Medlock, K UCLA
Really the first surprise pick for the Chiefs. I think the Chiefs have their eye on a kicker and Medlock would be the choice. Another impact player and from the 5th round. Great value IMO.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6688&s=1515537

5. Ryne Robinson, KR/WR Miami (Ohio)
Robinson was one of the nation’s top punt returner. He had 7 touchdowns in his career. Also a very underrated WR, he could be the team’s slot receiver in the future. Knock on him he is small, but as a returner and as 4th receiver could be a sleeper pick.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6574&s=1512238

6. Matt Spaeth, TE, Minnesota
Jason Dunn is getting old and the Chiefs need a young blocking tight end. Spaeth is the best in the nation at blocking and also was named the Mackey Award.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...6584&s=1512808

7. Clifton Ryan, DT Michigan State
A decent pickup for the 7th round. Ryan is a tweener between tackle and end. Chiefs need depth at the line and Ryan could fill both.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I think the Chiefs could get at least two starters - Meachem & Yanda out of this, and two special team starters - Medlock & Robinson. Hughes would be a perfect nickelback. Spaeth would be groomed to take over Dunn's spot.

Neither Marshal Yanda nore Spears will be there in third round. And Robert Meachem will go before our pick.

Yanda could very well be there in the 3rd. His stock hasn't risen that much. Meachem isn't guaranteed to be gone either, 4 or 5 guys will go before 20 that you never planned on, pushing other top 20 players down.

And he never said that Sears would be there - he passed on Sears in the SECOND because he was targetting Yanda.

Scott Wright has Yanda going 11 picks after us in the Third.

I'm 50/50 on Meacham being there.

Great mock, IMO.

So will Medlock be ther in the 5th?

Overall, it looks like a pretty good, and realistic, draft.

I would really like the Yanda pick in the third.

Could be Shields' long term replacement.

I like Laurent Robinson better than Ryne Robinson.

Anybody see ESPN's mock draft special? They had Meachem falling out of the first and had Okoye slipping to #25.

I don't know if your guys will be there, but I like the first day a lot...not sure if Hughes falls that far
