Home and Auto Question: Shutting off your vehicle.

Imagine that you're driving down the road. It's a warm day and it's raining, so you've got the air conditioner on and the wipers on a slow interval. The radio is booming out Chumbawumba's song Tubthumping. (If for some reason you don't enjoy Tubthumping you may substitute another song. But at least give Tubthumping some consideration.)

You arrive home. What do you do?

I turn the ignition off and go inside.

I make sure that all secondary systems (A/C, radio, wipers, etc.) are off before turning off the ignition.

Something in between. I turn off some systems but not all.

If I park outside-
Do not shut off wipers.
Turn down fan on AC
Turn down volume on radio. Listening to White snake

If I park in the garage-which is most likely since I have one.
Shut off wipers.
Turn down fan on AC
Turn down volume on radio.

I rarely, if ever, shut down everything

Why do you leave the wipers on outside? Is that for a quick getaway later? Or do you just like to see clearly until the moment that you exit the car?

If its raining-I am not going to shut off the wipers-just turn off the car.
Usually, when I get back in, it will still be wet and I will have to use the wipers

I'm asking because I view a car like a spacecraft. Once I touch down, I go through all systems and shut them down before I turn the car off. I don't want any surprises when I'm getting ready to lift off again.

There are a lot of systems in your car. A lot.

All the things you mentioned are almost certainly on the same system.

Radio would be turned down as I approach the neighborhood (lol). Park, turn off wipers, turn off the ignition, and go inside. If there's a great song on, I'll usually sit there and finish it.

I guess I’d normally shut off the wipers but it doesn’t ever rain here so whatever.

About the only time mine get used is when a steer pisses out the side of a bull hauler.

Nothing worse then getting into a vehicle and the first thing to hit you is the stereo blasting ABBA

I said I just turn my ignition off, but that isn’t true. I do shut my wipers off. I can’t stand them not being in off position when parked.

Same here, and if the windshield is dry when you come back, the wipers generally make a pretty horrid sound as they drag over the dry glass.

I also voted incorrectly because this is the one thing I shut off if it was on.

(And headlights if im in a vehicle that doesn't have auto lights.)
