Which record will be harder to break? Cam's or Brees'?
Several players came close to breaking Marino's record. Less than that number came close to breaking Manning's rookie record.
Which will be harder to eclipse? Poll incoming. There's one game left, I am going to add the average rushing and passing yardage to their current numbers. |

IMO. I think it will be Cam who breaks Brees' record in the next 4 or 5 years.
His rookie record will be broken, but not before he breaks Brees' record. Last edited by Fritz88; 12-27-2011 at 06:59 AM.. |

Cams will be harder to break because each QB will only have one opportunity to break it and I just don't see many other rookie qbs going what he's doing this year.

$cams will be much more difficult to break IMO.By time Goodell adjusts the rules 2-3 more times guys will be passing for 7,000-8,000 yards a season due to tackling/defense being to rough in the NFL.

Took 13 years to break Manning's record and 27 to beat Marino's. Why would that change?

Marino broke Fouts' record which was still second going into the 2001 season. Since there have been five QB that have topped that in one decade. This year Marino's record will be broken twice. There is even a chance that two more QB's top Fouts. I expect the record to be broken several times in the next few years barring rules changes which would bring more balance.

Brees record will be broken! The game has shifted toward relying so heavily on passing! I wouldn't be surprised at all if someone broke it next year. Maybe he will break it himself!

I voted for Cam's if nothing else because you included his rushing total as well. It's extremely rare that any quarterback has the ability to EITHER pass for that many yards in his first year or run for that many yards at all; that someone will be able to come in and do both in their first year anytime soon seems awfully unlikely.

4800 combined passing and rushing as a rookie will be MUCH harder to break. Not even close really.

I think Newton's record will be harder out of sheer volume. Every year there are 30 guys (I'm not counting Cassel and Tebow) who set out to break Marino's record. There might be one guy who starts 16 games as a rookie, and probably not that many. The numbers make Newton's record more defensible.
