I need sand
Does anybody have any recommendations on where I could get 1.5 cubic yards of good sand for a sandbox? Several neighbors bought the bags of "Playground Sand" from Lowes and Home Depot, but it is pretty course. We saw some colored sand at the Home Show last year and I would even pay extra to get the colored stuff if I could find it. I called several bulk centers around and their sand is either for making concrete or for being a base layer under pavers.
I am not intersted in any sand from Clint's vagina. |

I just bought my kids a sandbox and the sand for it at Walmart. Check there, they had normal and colored sand.

I recently bought some at the concrete place for a sandbox. I learned that your average concrete mill operator may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer. I needed about 2/3 of a cubic foot, told them that, and they dumped 3,750 lbs of sand into my single axle trailer (about 2x the amount I needed). I looked at the pile of sand, told them it was too much but they insisted it was what I needed. Before I got out of the concrete yard, the tongue of my trailer had dissassociated itself from the rest of the trailer. Thankfully some of the farmers in the church had a welder/generator that we were able to sew it back together with.
Live and learn.

After the third idiot I talked to on the phone questioned my math skills and says, "You do know that there's 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard?", I realize that I am the idiot and that this project just got a lot cheaper. |

Oops! I meant to type cubic yard, not cubic feet there. I ended up giving them half the load back just to get the trailer together to the point that I could get it fixed and home, and still had twice as much as I needed.

that reminds me of a time I went to the sand pit/concrete place with my pick up. They ask me how much I wanted and I said, filler up! Holy cow, I thought I was going to pop all the tires, I was lucky to get home. Fortunately, it was a Dodge and not a rice burner. Did some of the parishners have to hook on to your Toyota and pull it for you? |

Dude, please! Had I been driving a dodge, the trailer would have stayed intact because the dodge wouldn't have had enough power to pull it, much less enough power to yank the tongue of the trailer off like my Landcruiser did. Shoot, for that matter, had I been driving a dodge, it probably would have broke down before I even got to the concrete yard, thus saving my trailer. I guess you are right, I should have been driving a dodge.
