Steve Cheek signed
Chiefs Sign P Steve Cheek
Oct 13, 2004, 2:20:41 PM Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has signed P Steve Cheek to the club’s 53-man roster from the practice squad. Cheek agreed to the terms of a three-year contract, but as per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available. P Steve Cheek (6-4, 205) appeared in the first two games of the 2004 season for the Chiefs, punting 10 times for 447 yards (44.7 avg.) and placing two punts inside the 20-yard line. Cheek has spent the past two weeks on the Kansas City practice squad. Before joining the Chiefs, he spent time in four different training camps, as well as participating in two NFL Europe seasons for the Cologne Centurions (2004) and Berlin Thunder (2003). Cheek originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with San Francisco in 2001 and also saw time in training camps with Philadelphia (2002), the N.Y. Giants (2003) and Houston (2004). The Westfield, New Jersey native played three seasons at Humboldt State, punting 192 times for 6,762 yards (35.2 avg.). The Westfield High School prep also started seven games at quarterback for Humboldt State, throwing six TD passes. |

something i wondered about?
remember that the trade with Houston for Cheeks has a conditional pick of some kind attached to it. i wonder if by cutting Cheeks and then resigning him whether we have worked around the conditional part of that trade?

Probably not, unless the condition was roster/games played based.
