Priests Contract situation
Are there any financial reasons why Priest would know he's not gonna play again but not announce his official retirement? Cause it seems to me people are confusing the "wont play again" and "retirement" as one and the same.

As pointed out by many, he'll get his 2005 salary regardless if he plays or not. I was actually thinking if he retired he would forfeit that, but looks like that is not correct.
I think that his bonus $ would accelerate if he retired, but not sure if that would be immediate or next year. Either way, that is something that the Chiefs would at least try to minimize. So perhaps they would convince him to be patient before announcing a retirement, in order to make what adjustments/preperations they could. All of that assumes that a retirement is even in the picture with this. I'm still not in the camp that it is. |

Aha. I believe we have a winner. All of this makes me think back to DV last week: DV: There's a lot on my mind believe me. Reporter: Would it be rude to ask what's on your mind? DV: It wouldn't be rude but you wouldn't get an answer.
