Opening windows.

Let's say that you work in a high-rise, and that for some inexplicable reason the high-rise had windows that would open, with no screen. Assume that they're normal double-hung windows like you'd find in a house.

Is there some height at which you wouldn't open the windows any more? For example, would you sit next to an open window on the 90th floor?

Just curious.

Probably be too windy for me on the 90th floor of a high-rise. I'd still open it to see though.

I don't see a problem with opening windows at any height. It's not like it's gonna suck you out.

Around the 3000th floor, it could be a problem.

I don't think I'd have any problem sitting next to an open window at any height, as long as it's small and high up off the floor so I can't trip and accidentally fall out of the building.

It'd freak me out to be too high and next to an open window. I'd be worried about slipping on a banana peel or something.

You didn't say anything about being stoned in the original post. Can I change my answer?

Yeah but let's be honest. If you slip and fall out of floor #30 you're probably just as dead as you would be if you fell out of floor #90. Maybe less spectacularly so, but dead nonetheless.

That's why I went with 10.

Now, I know that falling out of the 8th floor will probably kill me as well, but at 8 floors I'm less likely to look out, panic, lose my balance, and fall.

I wouldn't stick my head out or anything, but I would stand up against the wall and peek down for a few seconds before diving back to the floor and crawling to my desk.

I'd open it all the way up, but the window would definetly have to be above my waist. If the window were below there, I'd be kind of freaked out.

Bob Dole once lived on the 19th floor of a building in Springfield, MO and we would not only open the window, but sit out on the ledge beneath it.
