Jared Allen - Best DE in the NFL?

Everything else about this football team sux but just being able to watch JA makes the games worth watching IMO. I continue to be amazed with his domination week in and week out and his improvement from last year to this year. He's always got sacks but most of them came in bunches mainly at home games as he was adept at jumping the silent count. But this year he's getting pressure on EVERY drop back and coming off the line like a bat out of hell. Not only does he lead the NFL in sacks but he's also solid against the run. I think he's in for Dwight Freeney type money and IMO he's earning it. Thoughts?

You can't really say he's solid against the run, he gets caught inside and has problems against bootlegs.

The Raiders ran right at him last week for big yardage, especially in the 2nd half.

He's very good, definitely All Pro, don't think he's hands down the best though. You could make arguments for other players.

You sure you're not thinking of Tamba? Especially the statement about the game last week, I thought their big runs came almost exclusively on Tamba's side.

I'm late....I was taking a nap, I was tired after the long weekend....

Anyway, people take what I say way to over the top. I said coming into this year I considered him a very good player that was a tier under the elite guys, which meant 2nd tier, I thought the same of Aaron Kampman.

This year both guys have made great strides at moving into the elite group with guys like Peppers and Umenyiora. I think if Allen and Kampman can sustain what they have done this year for 2 more years they can be the top guys 1-2. But I have a hard time moving Peppers and Freeney when they have been the guys year in and year out for 4-5 years.

But I think those are the top 5 ends in no specific order......Allen, Kampman, Umenyiora, Peppers, Freeney.....

It'd be nice if he showed up in the second half of a game at some point.

He drives me nuts, though. I died laughing on his TD today. On his second sack I got down on one knee and gave my own rendition of his sack dance. I'm insane.

I did the "cowboy roundup" after the TD, that just brought a smile to my face

Has Mecca been along to tell us why he's not even top 10 yet?

JA has an opportunity to get there, but he's not there yet.

I did like the pass today. The first time I've seen any kind of ingenuity in the Chiefs offense.
