RICHMOND, Va. -- Michael Vick was sentenced to 23 months in prison Monday for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy.

Federal sentencing guidelines suggested a year to 18 months.

The suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback also received three years' probation at his sentencing before U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson.

With nearly a month already served, going by Hudson's sentencing, Vick would be scheduled for release in October 2009.

Is this sentence mandatory? If not he could be out in less than a year.

With credit for good time, 4.5 days a month, he could serve about 20 months total.

Since he started his sentence early, he could join a team for the 2009 season.

The judge brought the hammer down, i really didnt expect him to. The recommendation was a year to a year & a half.

He's kaput in the NFL, if he wants to play ball after this its gonna be in the arena league's or Canada.

Had he only came forward from the beginning of this he would have likely served no time at all, but instead he held firm to his conviction that what he was doing wasnt wrong and/or that he wouldnt get caught...wrong on both counts.

He is better suited to play in the CFL, I mean come on, if Casey Printers (a very poor mans Vick) can be the MVP, can you imagine what Vick will be able to do up there? Plus, they will pay him pretty good, they paid Ricky Williams pretty good for being a fullback.
