I have lost faith in Larry Johnson

Rushing ATT YDS TD LG
L. Johnson 22 74 0 22

No vision. Dude just kept running in to walls. Priest was always able to recover and STILL gain yards on the outside.

Well priest had a better line across the board, but LJ or the coaching are/will not ever adjust schemes.. I do not know why LJ thinks he has to run it up the butt of the blocker every time..

I dont think he ran outside the guards/tackles once that I can remember.. I do not know if that is on him or the coaches.. Ok there was one toss play that I do remember.. It looks like he was moving half speed of everyone else..

That one play where he bounced it outside was a great running play.

Everything else was right between the center and guards. Running on first down so much and the playcalling certainly didnt help him out.

it was good but the thing is, if Charles had been in there he has the speed to break that.

I don't really know their respective 40 times but LJ is not just a bruiser- he is really effing fast, too. Charles is probably shiftier and maybe better at turning the corner or slicing through a small break but I don't think he's much (if any) faster than LJ in the open field and I'm pretty sure the difference today was the situation. LJ went inside on a number of downs where there just wasn't any room.

Additionally, while today wasn't a good day for LJ it did have one positive- LJ's foot injury seems like a non-issue.

Lenny said that Charles has Olympic class speed. I don't know exactly how fast that is, but I'm pretty sure it's faster than LJ speed.

don't know what happened to him really.

it wasn't like the line was amazing when he had his two big years. better than now but it was in decline.

not so much as blocking, but back then he looked like a raging bull, punishing people and running them over. he doesn't seem to run as 'tough' now.

of course we had more of a passing attack back then

You talking about that line with that blocked for Priest and Larry ? The one that practically everybody who ever watched a football game said was one of if not THE best ever?

I think what we saw today out of LJ is what we are going to see all season.

He and Charles could make a hell of a combo if we had a good OL and a half-way decent passing attack that would keep teams honest. Too bad we don't have either of those things.

it was fairly good, but those guys were on the down side of their careers. i was responding to what someone said about holmes having an amazing line which was true. the line was declining in 05 and 06, not what it was for say holmes in 2003
