Bill Ford what Clark should have been

It's time to hand out a few game balls following the Detroit Lions' 31-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon at Candlestick Park:

Sorry, no game balls for players. None for the coaching staff. And definitely not team president Matt Millen.

The only game ball worth handing out this week is to Lions vice chairman Bill Ford Jr.

He had the guts to speak the truth following the Detroit Economic Club luncheon Monday when responding to a reporter's question whether Millen should resign his post in the aftermath of the team's 0-3 start this season.

Bill Ford is embarrassed for the franchise, for his father, owner William Clay Ford Sr., and for all of the disgruntled fans of the team.

The problem is his father might not be listening.

Let's hope his comments Monday spark the fire that burns down the Millen regime once and for all. Or hope that his father turns over control of the franchise to him.

If only clark had the balls to stand up to lamar Bill has breathed new life in to a stagnant franchise.

You know, something like that could, in fact, begin to turn a franchise around. Imagine what would go through the minds of the players when they realize that ownership is completely committed to winning and that everyone in the organization (regardless of position or tenure) is held accountable to that goal.

It's only his second year, Mr. chasedude. Time will tell, but he needs to get his feet under him, also.

I wonder ... when owners make a change of this nature, do they typically hire a headhunter to scout around the league and investigate replacement options?

People seem to forget that the Hunts....like many NFL owners, are businessmen.....As long as Carl is filling the seats, selling out Arrohead, making $50+ million in profit, what else does Hunt really want? If he really wanted a SB more than he did to sell out Arrowhead, he would have done what is necessary a long time ago. Carl is the LTGMIPS for one main reason........$$$$$$$$......I can guarantee you that if Carl wasn't puttin teams together good enough to compete over the years, he would have been gone years ago.

You're right, As long as there are butts in the seats and sales at the concessions enough to turn out a profit every year why would he care? He was born into this, unlike his father who helped form it.

You are right to Mr. Fax, this is his second year but like oaklandhater said, Clark knew eventually he's be in his father's position and should be taking a more active role in things.

Before we go making a saint out of Bill Ford, its pretty easy to criticize his dad. The franchise has won a total of one playoff game since he took over the franchise in 1964. They were one of the strongest franchises of the 50's. I think the only franchise to match that futility is Bidwill's Cardinals.

You can look at it that way.....but then again NFL games are just like any other form of entertainment value.....if you don't like the product, you sure as hell don't have to buy it, go find something else to do with your money and watch the game from home.

I don't buy or go to chiefs games, but I do know that the chiefs and the hunt family in the nfl have been losers. Like they give a shit though. I doubt they live anywhere close to KC
