Life What's wrong with my throat/tonsils?

It all started around three or so weeks ago. Every so often my throat would hurt, nothing major. Well, eight days ago it started hurting non stop. On a scale of 1-10 pain wise I'd only give it around a 5 especially if my mouth was dry. I don't have any health insurance so I've been hoping it would go away by itself. Well I brushed my teeth yesterday and a couple thick gobs of blood came out of my mouth when I was done. Today I felt something on the back of my tongue so I looked and again a gob of blood. I just used warm salt water to clean out my mouth and again blood. It looks like my left tonsil or right above it (starts with an a) is bleeding. It sounds like its getting serious.

Am I going to have to cave in and go to the doctor? I honestly don't have much money for it. My girlfriend, her pre-med friend and my mom insist on me going.

You have a VD from all the deep throating you do.

Go to one of the clinics in Walgreens or CVS. It is cheaper than going to a real doctor.

surely there is a free clinic in your area.

you might have to wait for a few hours and sit by a few unsavory people while you do so... but in the end, better than running around with strep.

Don't borrow antibiotics. Find a free clinic, get hooked up, and buy the 4 dollar generics from Wal Mart

Go to the doctor. Most people think that throat infections are not too serious but they can get serious really quickly. I used to get throat infections often so my ornithologist recommended that I have my tonsils removed. I arrived at the hospital around 7 a.m and there were a bunch of 5-6 year olds waiting to get theirs taken out too. I was the first one to go in. When I woke up the nurse told me that all the children had already had their procedures done, recovered and gone home. I was the last one there and could barely open my eyes. I was on an ice cream diet for two weeks, had complications and landed in the ICU for three days after my throat started hemorraging. I didn't think I was going to make it for a while.

As I said get checked. You can always get a payment plan through the hospital.
