Rumble in the Bronx
just finished playing on TNT after the Cavs/Magic game. Wow, that is a terrible movie. I understand that Jackie's movies are supposed to be a bit campy, but that was absolutely horrible.
The acting was brutal. While the leads were ok (regardless of how bad the plot was), the other/background acting was as bad as anything I can recall. "Yeah," "Get him!" "There he is." Yeah, awesome. The directing/filming/editing/whatever was brutal. The bus in the wreck that was sliding on a clearly-visible apparatus was pretty bad. The saxophone/metal band that was producing a techno beat didn't help either. The story didn't make much sense throughout. How in the world did this thing get two stars? |

I haven't seen it since the theaters but I remember being entertained. From what little I can remember it was dubbed and not exactly made with a budget but had some good Jackie Chan action. I imagine if I were to watch it now it would be would be pretty rough since I now find dubbed movies pretty much unwatchable.

Yes its bad, but thats sort of the appeal isnt it??
Its low budget and was made at a time Jackie was trying to break into the western market. A few others made like it were: Thunderbolt, First Strike and Mr Nice Guy. It worked, it got him re-introduced to the US market. They were filmed in Canada and Australia and used alot of different actors. The dubbing is pretty bad as well. The fight scenes are still kick a**, so thats really all that mattered. |
