Alternate Reality Game 3: Starting From Scratch - Rules Thread

Year 1:

Step 1: In Year 1, we will each draft 33 veteran players. Note that you may trade players or draft picks at any time other than Weeks 7 through the Super Bowl. The draft order is shown below, and will be serpentine.

Step 2: In Year 1, at the end of the veteran draft, we will hold a one-round "remainder draft" where each owner will select a team. They will then have access to any players on that team who are NOT already drafted in Step 1. The draft order is shown below, and will be serpentine.

Step 3: After the real NFL draft, we will hold a draft where you can obtain rookies via the NFL selection process. The draft order will be the reverse of the Step 1 draft order, and will be serpentine.

Step 3a: We will then hold a coaching draft, where teams draft head coaches, offensive coordinators, and defensive coordinators. The draft order will be randomly generated before the selection process begins.

Step 4: At the end of training camp, each owner will look at their available players obtained in Steps 1, 2, and 3, and they will select a final 53-man roster.

(We now wait while the NFL season is played. Note that there will be no injury replacements, no mid-season roster pickups, or any other changes.)

Step 5: At the end of the season, you will prepare a summary of who started at each position, totaling 16 games. For example, you may have Brett Favre starting all 16 games, or if he was hurt part of the year, you may have Brett Favre starting 9 games and Joey Harrington starting 7 games. If they were your only two QBs and both went down after 1 start, you'll start Favre 1 game, Harrington 1 game, and "Scrub" for 14 games. "Scrubs" will be the equivalent of off-the-street free agents.

Step 6: For each division, a public poll will be set up on chiefsplanet. Owners will be encouraged to discuss their team strategies and rosters, including their systems, their use of specialists, and anything else that they think sets their team apart. Voters will be asked to pick the best team in the division, and the results of the voting will be the order of finish in the division.

If the number of voters isn't sufficient, the owners can discuss taking the poll to other boards as well, but hopefully we'll have enough interest on chiefsplanet.

Step 7. The winners of each division will then go head to head, with random matchups. We will have two playoff games with similar voting and lobbying to Step 6, and the winners of those playoff games will then meet in a similar poll to determine the champion.

Years 2 and beyond:

Step 8: The draft order will be determined as follows:

- the Super Bowl winner will pick last
- the Super Bowl loser will pick second-to-last
- the playoff loser who won their division with the largest percent of total votes in the division race will pick third-to-last
- the other playoff loser will pick fourth-to-last

Among all teams who didn't make the playoffs, we will run a poll asking voters to select the THREE best teams. The draft order will be in reverse order of those poll results, with the team receiving the fewest votes getting the first pick in EACH draft step to follow.

Step 9: Each team will drop to 33 players at this point.

Step 10: We will then hold a seven-round free agent draft, where (in draft order before any trades), players can sign any active player not currently on another owner's roster.

Step 11: We will then hold a "remainder round" draft (in draft order) similar to Step 2.

Step 12: We will then loop back and use Steps 3 through 7 again.

Note that you may trade players or draft picks at any time other than Weeks 7 through the Super Bowl.

I was trying to trade him my rookie picks as well. I completely forgot that you gave him all of yours.
