Boulevard is now distributing in Colorado!
I've heard that they were for the past few months, but it wasn't until tonight that I finally found them in a liquor store. Colorado, generally, has Kansas beat when it comes to good brews (IMHO), but I've always missed a good Boulevard Wheat.
Before moving out here, I hadn't really branched out into many of the craft brews, so before today I hadn't tried any of their beers OTHER than the Wheat. So I picked up the sampler, which includes the Wheat, the Pale Ale, Single Wide IPA, Lunar Ale, Bully Porter, and Zon. Sampling the Lunar Ale currently. It's not too shabby. I like the unfiltered taste, and the aftertaste is very pleasant. Anyway, just thought I'd share in my excitement over something a majority of you all have had for years. |

Now locate the Smokestack Series aka the real reason for Boulevard to exist. (Well, Bully! Porter is a great reason for it to exist, too).

Congrats.
Even backwoods AR has had Blvd. What does that tell you about Colorado? Huh? I thought so. |

CO is one of the very best beer states in the nation. I might not be able to count on two hands the number of great craft breweries from that state. Great Divide, Avery, Odell, Left Hand, New Belgium, Oskar Blues, etc.

When I was a kid Coors had a very limited distribution. It wasn't available east of Kansas or Missouri, I don't remember which. Anyway, my sister and bro-in-law lived in Louisville, KY and would haul cases back there from Kansas. They could never haul enough for everyone in Kentucky/Ohio who thought it was the nectar of the gods. It's kind of funny how much better beer is when distribution is limited.
"This beer is awesome!" "What is it?" "Oh, don't worry, you can't buy it." "Really? Now I really want some!" "Yeah, well, I'm special and have the perfect palate. You wouldn't understand the complexity of THIS beer." "Does it taste like beer?" "Well, yeah, but, but, but.... Oh, go buy Budweiser you clown!" |

Eh, I don't disagree, but I think you missed my point. Have you tried Altus' wine?

I'd also add Boulder Beer to the list as one of the really good "major" breweries. Aside from those, there are a ton of little breweries here and there, some of which are great, and some of which are crap. |
